Installation tool/fastener system for roof truss framing and construction
An installation tool/fastening system employs an installation tool which is adapted for fastening a top plate to a roof support member or other structural connections and is particularly adapted for use in driving a wide variety of fasteners. One installation tool embodiment is adapted for driving a fastener having a head with a maximum diameter greater than the major diameter of the fastener threads. The installation tool is also adaptable to drive fasteners having a wide variety of drive-type head configurations including an external drive head and various recessed or socket configurations provided in the fastener head.
Winged threaded fastener
The present disclosure provides various embodiments of a winged threaded fastener primarily suited to be used to connect a wooden object to a metal object. The fastener includes a head, a shank, a helical thread formation extending from the shank, a first wing extending from the shank, and a second wing extending from the shank. In various embodiments, the wings are offset along the longitudinal axis of the shank with respect to each other and are angled with respect the longitudinal axis of the shank.
Screw
A screw includes a shank, a head connected thereto, a drilling portion opposite to the head, a first threaded section spirally formed on the shank, and a leading threaded section spirally extending upwards from the drilling portion. The two threaded section are disconnected so that a valley is formed between them. At least one cutting unit protrudes from the valley and has two ends connected to the first threaded section and the leading threaded section respectively. The leading threaded section assists the drilling portion in cutting and drilling into an object while screwing, and the cutting unit protruding from the valley severs fibers which are not cut by the leading threaded section completely to prevent the entanglement of the fibers. The valley helps accommodate and evacuate cut chips. Therefore, the drilling resistance is reduced effectively to increase the screwing efficiency.
Screws
A screw includes a shank and a threaded section spirally formed on the shank. The threaded section includes threaded units having a length greater than a pitch, each threaded unit including a closed curve having two opposing first curved sections and two opposing second curved sections. Each threaded unit is further provided with two opposing high points each formed between the first curved section and the adjacent second curved section and two opposing low points each formed between the first curved section and the adjacent second curved section. Width of the threaded unit at the high points is the greatest and width of the threaded unit at the low points is the least. The width of the threaded unit is decreased from the high point to the low point.
SELF-TAPPING SCREW WITH DRILLING WING
A self-tapping screw with drilling wing includes a head, a shank extending therefrom, a plurality of threads spirally disposed on the shank, a drilling portion opposite to the head, and at least one winged reaming unit formed on the drilling portion and extending outwards therefrom. At least one supporting rib protrudes from at least one surface of the reaming unit for increasing the strength of the reaming unit, allowing the reaming unit to bear the larger drilling stress during a screwing operation and provide the greater cutting action, and preventing the reaming unit from wearing or breaking. The combination of the supporting rib and the reaming unit allows the reaming unit to provide a suitable thickness which facilitates a preferable cutting speed without affecting the drilling capability of the screw.
Threaded Fastener
A threaded fastener is provided. The threaded fastener includes a shank having a non-threaded portion and a threaded portion. A tip extends from the threaded portion and a head extends from the non-threaded portion. A plurality of wings extend from the shank and are configured to form a passage as the threaded fastener advances. An enlarged portion is configured to seat in the passage formed by the plurality of wings with the threaded fastener in an installed arrangement.
