INSERTS, ASSEMBLIES INCLUDING INSERTS, AND METHODS OF USE OF INSERTS
The present disclosure provides an insert that includes a locking mechanism that may either be formed integrally to the component or attached separately to the insert body. The top of the locking mechanism is offset from the first surface by an offset distance to enable the insert to be coupled to a recess of a component such as an aircraft component. An aperture formed in a top surface of the first portion is configured to allow additional elements to be coupled to the aircraft component. The coupling of the insert to the aircraft component is further promoted by a compression mechanism that forces the locking mechanism to couple to an overhang portion of the top layer after the force applied to the insert once it is positioned in the recess is removed, such that the top surface of the insert is co-planar with an outermost surface of the aircraft component.
FASTENER, FASTENING STRUCTURE, AND METHOD OF DESIGNING FASTENER
Provided are a fastener that can reduce the fastener weight, decrease body shear fracture, and avoid slip of a nut part and damage of the body due to the slip. The fastener includes: a metal nut part into which a bolt is screwed along an axis; and a resin body in which the nut part is inserted, the nut part includes an internal thread part into which the bolt is screwed from one end to another, a plate-like flange part connected to a side of the other end of the internal thread part and having a flange face perpendicular to the axis, and an erected part arranged at a position apart from the internal thread part radially about the axis and erected axially from the flange face, and the internal thread part and the erected part are inserted in the body.
Bonded nutplate rapid cure system
Systems for positioning and bonding a nutplate to a substrate having an aperture include a nutplate engagement fixture and a temperature sensor retention fixture. The nutplate engagement fixture includes a rigid tube and an elastomeric tube engaged with the rigid tube, the elastomeric tube having an elongated tube sized to provide a friction fit with the aperture and retain the elastomeric tube within the aperture. The rigid tube is operable to engage the nutplate at one end and the elastomeric tube is configured to anchor the nutplate engagement fixture at the aperture and secure the nutplate in contact with the substrate. The temperature sensor retention fixture includes a fixture body sized and configured to engage with the nutplate and at least one passageway within the fixture body sized and configured to allow a temperature sensor to be inserted or embedded therein with an end proximal a surface of the nutplate.
NUT WITH INJECTION PORT FOR REINFORCING BAR
A nut for threading onto a reinforcing bar, wherein the nut includes a female thread for threading onto a male thread of the reinforcing bar, wherein the nut includes a port arranged such that, when the nut is in situ on the reinforcing bar the port provides a passage for injection of fluid material to flow into a cavity defined by an external surface of the reinforcing bar and an internal surface of the nut.
Fastening element
The invention relates to a fastening element for fastening a component on a carrier component, in particular a carrier component of an automobile, wherein the fastening element comprises a glue surface with which the fastening element can be glued onto the earner component with a glue applicable to the glue surface, and wherein the fastening element comprises fastening means for fastening the component or a further fastening element, wherein a plurality of anchoring ribs are provided on the glue surface, which extend in a radial direction with regard to an imaginary circle around the center of the glue surface.
AIRCRAFT JOINT
An aircraft joint between overlapping first and second components includes a fastener assembly. The fastener assembly includes a threaded fastener and a boss having an outer diameter and a threaded internal bore. The boss is fixedly attached to the second component at the overlap region. The first component has a through hole having a diameter sized to receive the outer diameter of the boss. The boss is received in the through hole from a first side of the first component. The fastener extends through the through hole from a second side of the first component opposite the first side. The fastener is threadably received in the internal bore of the boss and reacts against the second side of the first component to fasten the first component to the second component.
Ceramic and Ceramic Matrix Composite Attachment Methods and Systems
Attaching a fastener to a ceramic matrix composite or ceramic body by inserting a portion of the fastener into a compartment of the body, the compartment having a first portion and a second portion, the second portion outboard of and narrower than the first portion; and delivering a fluid into the fastener to expand a portion of the fastener within the blind compartment first portion.
INSERT DESIGNED TO BE INCLUDED IN A PART MOULDED BY INJECTION AND MOULDED PART COMPRISING ONE SUCH INSERT
Insert designed to be included in a part moulded by injection, comprising a body extending along a longitudinal axis of the insert, and a base situated at one end of the body and provided with at least one plate comprising at least one pass-through opening, at least one pass-through opening of the base being oriented in an inclined direction with respect to the longitudinal axis of the insert.
Connecting insert and an embedding method and a production method therefor
The present disclosure describes a connection insert, in particular a threaded insert, which is embeddable into a formed plastic component. This connection insert comprises a cylindrical main body having a radially outer side, a radially inner side as well as a first and a second axial end, at least one circumferential collar arranged at the radially outer side of the main body which has the largest outer diameter compared to the remaining main body and which is arranged spaced with respect to the first and the second axial end of the main body, and a radially protruding structure arranged at the radially outer side of the main body.
Rivetless fastener and installation tool
A fastener for retaining a bolt in a hole in a structure, comprising a bushing integrally formed with and extending from the bottom surface of a retainer, the bushing being dimensioned for insertion into the hole in the structure and having a wall thickness ranging from about 0.005 inches to about 0.030 inches, wherein the bushing is configured to be expanded within the hole, thereby securely coupling the expanded bushing within the hole of the structure and anchoring the retainer to the surface of the structure surrounding the hole. A tool for installing a fastener, comprising a tapered mandrel configured for insertion within a fastener situated within a hole of the structure, a drive mechanism configured to retract the mandrel through the fastener and thereby expand the fastener, and a force sensor configured for measuring a force applied by the drive mechanism to retract the mandrel through the fastener.
