Single point actuation low-profile lock ring for a mechanical seal

A mechanical seal that employs a lock ring assembly having associated therewith a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism can include a nut element, such as a barrel nut, that allows an associated bolt element to adjust a tightening load and position while clamping occurs of the components of the mechanical seal. This adjustment flexibility removes or reduces unwanted bending stresses in the bolt element, thus allowing for more torque to translate directly to the lock ring. The barrel nut allows for more material to remain in the lock ring, thus providing for additional overall strength relative to a traditional locking element. The lock ring also includes a plurality of flex regions in the form of notches that allow the lock ring to flex when the main body is tightened about the shaft.

Non-rotatable fastener assembly and associated methods

A cap and washer fastener assembly includes a cap with an upper surface and a lower surface with a post extending from the lower surface. The assembly also includes a washer with an upper surface, a lower surface, and a hole. The assembly includes an assembled configuration wherein the post of the cap is inserted into the hole of the washer and a portion of the post is permanently deformed within the cavity. In the assembled configuration, a substrate layer is disposed between the cap and the washer. The cap and washer are configured so they are prevented from rotating relative to one another and relative to the substrate when in the assembled configuration.

LIGHTWEIGHT FLOATING BLIND PANEL INSERT

An insert for use in a sandwich-type structure is provided that includes a housing defining an internal bore, a proximal flange, opposed distal flanges, and an exterior wall portion extending between the proximal flange and the opposed distal flanges. The opposed distal flanges define lateral walls arranged tangentially with a wall of the internal bore. A nut is disposed within the internal bore of the housing and configured to float therein, the nut defines a truncated flange and a hollow shaft extending from the truncated flange. The hollow shaft of the nut defines internal threads and an exterior wall, the exterior wall having a diameter at least equal to a thread lock diameter. A cap is configured for engagement with the opposed distal flanges such that the nut is floatingly captured within the internal bore of the housing.
