[Problem] To provide a terminal securing device the size of which can be reduced. [Solution] When a key lock 7 is positioned in a second position a key 6 and the key lock 7 are arranged at overlapping positions in the lengthwise direction of a rod 3, so a portion of a space for displacing the key lock 7 from the second position to a first position can be provided at a position overlapping the key 6 in the lengthwise direction of the rod 3. Thus, an increase in the size of a holder 4 in the lengthwise direction of the rod 3 can be avoided, so the size of the terminal securing device 1 can be reduced.

Drive shaft in a handheld work apparatus

A telescopic drive shaft in a protective tube of a handheld work apparatus has one end connected to a rotational drive and the other end thereof to a driven tool. The drive shaft includes a rigid shaft segment and a connecting section. The rigid shaft segment has a hollow shaft end portion and an engagement length (E) of the connecting section engages therein. The engagement length (E) and the length of the hollow shaft end portion mutually overlap to form a joining section. The hollow shaft end portion is deformed for connecting the connecting section to the rigid shaft segment. The material of the hollow shaft end portion is compressed over its entire periphery and deformed so that the material of the hollow shaft end portion is radially displaced and is pressed in a rotative manner onto the engagement length (E) to produce a balanced, loadable connection.

Efficient bowden cable system

An apparatus includes a housing that includes an inner space, an inlet connected to the inner space, and a plurality of outlets connected to the inner space. The housing allows an inner cable of a Bowden cable to pass therethrough such that the inner cable passes through the inlet, the inner space, and any of the plurality of outlets. The apparatus also includes an inner hub rotatably mounted in the inner space of the housing. The inner hub is configured to receive and guide the inner cable passing through the housing such that the inner cable forms a curved path about the inner hub. The apparatus includes a socket configured to receive the Bowden cable. The socket can be coupled to the housing at a plurality of different positions to select any of the plurality outlets such that the inner cable of the Bowden cable passes through the selected outlet.

In a Bowden cable, a shield thereof is formed from a hollow strand that is formed by twisting a plurality of metal individual wires. An end part of this hollow strand is exposed by removing an outer skin and is increased in diameter, thereby forming a first flare part. An end part of a liner is also increased in diameter to form a second flare part. An end piece is injection molded so as to envelop these flare parts. A synthetic resin as a material of this end piece is made to enter between the metal individual wires. The end piece includes a mounting part and a bent pipe part for covering and surrounding an outer periphery of an outer cable in a state in which the outer cable is curved. The mounting part and the bent pipe part are formed as a unit by injection molding.
