Bearing for supporting a rotating compressor shaft
A compressor includes a housing, a shaft that is rotated relative to the housing to compress a working fluid, and a foil bearing that supports the shaft. The foil bearing includes a top foil. The foil bearing is a foil gas bearing that is backed up by a ball bearing, or a mesh foil bearing with an actuator to compress a wire mesh dampener. A heat transfer circuit includes a compressor and a working fluid. The compressor includes a shaft that is rotated to compress the working fluid, and a foil bearing for supporting the shaft as it rotates.
MACHINE THRUST BEARING ASSEMBLY
A thrust bearing assembly for a machine includes a stator housing, a fluid film thrust bearing, and a ring bearing. The stator housing surrounds at least a segment of a rotor shaft and one or more runners on the rotor shaft that include a first runner surface and a second runner surface facing in opposite axial directions along the rotor shaft. The fluid film thrust bearing is axially held between a first stator surface of the stator housing and the first runner surface. The fluid film thrust bearing is configured to generate a fluid cushion that blocks the first runner surface from engaging the fluid film thrust bearing. The ring bearing is axially held between a second stator surface of the stator housing and the second runner surface. The ring bearing has an annular contact surface that engages the second runner surface to axially support the rotor shaft.

Protective Structure for Magnetic Bearing and Magnetic Bearing Assembly
The present invention provides a protective structure for a magnetic bearing and a magnetic bearing assembly. The protective structure for a magnetic bearing comprises: a first radial bearing protective component, sleeved on a shaft and in a position corresponding to a magnetic bearing, a first gap being radially formed between the first radial bearing protective component and the shaft; and a second radial bearing protective component, sleeved on the shaft and in a position corresponding to the magnetic bearing, a second gap being radially formed between the second radial bearing protective component and the shaft; the height of a working gap being greater than the height of the second gap, the height of the second gap being greater than the height of the first gap. The protective structure for the magnetic bearing and the magnetic bearing assembly effectively solve the problem of lower security between a magnetic bearing and a shaft, since a protective structure for the magnetic bearing is prone to failure in the prior art.
INTEGRATED JOURNAL BEARING
An integrated journal bearing (IJB) includes a shaft extending in an axial direction, a housing through which the shaft extends in the axial direction, the housing surrounding the shaft in a radial direction, an active magnetic bearing (AMB) arranged within the housing and surrounding the shaft in the radial direction, and at least a first fluid film journal bearing (JB) arranged within the housing and surrounding the shaft in the radial direction. The first JB is axially adjacent to the AMB such that first JB and the AMB do not share a common radial clearance, while both are commonly flooded with oil. A controller in signal communication with the AMB can be variously configured to supply current thereto to operate the AMB by controlling a magnetic force generated thereby.

Method of and a device for protecting a motor in a pod against shaft bending shocks
A method and a device for protecting an electric motor in a pod unit for propulsion of marine vessels against shaft bending shocks when the blades of the pod propeller hit ice blocks or other hard objects, said motor having a drive shaft, a rotor and a stator, said shocks tending to momentarily bend the drive shaft (3) to such an extent that the rotor (41) will come into contact with the stator. The rotor is prevented from coming in detrimental contact with the stator by providing at least two members, which together form a radial plain bearing having mating arcuate bearing surfaces, which during normal operation of the motor are spaced from one another by a gap and come in contact with one another only at extreme loads with short durations.
