The glass ball is formed of a glass material including, as represented by mole percentage based on oxides, 30 to 75 mol % of SiO.sub.2, 2 to 30 mol % of Al.sub.2O.sub.3, and 5 to 25 mol % of R.sub.2O, where R is at least one kind selected from Li, Na and K. The glass ball includes a compressive stress layer in a surface thereof.
Tilting pad gas bearing
A tilting pad gas bearing includes: a plurality of bearing pads disposed in a circumferential direction of a rotor; and a pivot member that swingably supports the bearing pads. Each of the bearing pads has a curved shape and includes: a pad main body supported by the pivot member; a heat insulating material layer disposed on a side of the pad main body that faces the outer circumferential surface of the rotor, and formed of a material having a thermal conductivity lower than a thermal conductivity of the pad main body; and a concave portion disposed in an outer circumferential surface on an outer circumferential side of the bearing pad in a curving direction. A base end of the pivot member is fixed to a housing, and the pivot member has a protruding portion that passes through the housing.
Bearing assembly for electrical generator
A bearing assembly for an electrical generator includes a frame, a bearing liner and a ring. The frame is configured to connect with a housing of an electrical generator. The frame includes a frame opening and is made from a first material. The bearing liner connects with the frame. The bearing liner is made from a second material, which is dissimilar from the first material. At least a portion of the bearing liner passes through the frame opening. The ring surrounds the bearing liner. The ring contacts the frame and the bearing liner and maintains a clearance between the portion of the bearing liner passing through the frame opening and the frame.
GAS BEARING DEVICE AND TURBOCHARGER
A gas bearing device is a gas bearing device for rotatably supporting a rotational shaft by using a gas as a working fluid, including: a housing where the rotational shaft penetrates; an annular top foil disposed inside the housing and surrounding an outer periphery of the rotational shaft; a back spring disposed between the top foil and the housing, and having a plurality of crests contacting the top foil and a plurality of valleys contacting the housing; and a pair of snap rings fitted in shaft holes where the rotational shaft of the housing penetrates, and configured to restrict movement of the back spring in an axial direction of the rotational shaft. An inner peripheral surface of each of the pair of snap rings has self-lubricating properties.
BEARING ASSEMBLY
A bearing assembly, preferably a wheel bearing assembly, includes at least one first ring and at least second ring, at least one of the first and second rings being rotatable and a bearing interior being defined between the first and second rings. The first ring(s) are designed to be attached with press fit to a component formed of a first material with a first coefficient of thermal expansion, the first ring (s) being formed of a second material with a second coefficient of thermal expansion different than, preferably lower than, the first coefficient of thermal expansion. At least one seal unit is provided to seal an axially outer side of the bearing assembly and includes a carrier element formed of a third material with a third coefficient of thermal expansion, the third coefficient of thermal expansion is at least as high as the first coefficient of thermal expansion.
Apparatus and method for assembling a split sleeve onto a shaft
An apparatus and method for assembling a split sleeve onto a shaft. The split sleeve apparatus provides a first and second arcuate portion with each having a partial cylindrical configuration. The first and second arcuate portions have at least one finger extending circumferentially outward from their opposing ends. The at least one finger from each of the first and second arcuate portions complementarily engage one another to form a continuous cylinder. At least one aperture extends longitudinally through the at least one finger of the first and second arcuate portions. A dowel rod extends through the at least one aperture for connecting the first and second arcuate portions to form the cylinder. The first and second arcuate portions are fabricated from a material having heat expansion characteristics that allow the material to expand when heated during assembly and to contract when cooled creating an interference fit with the shaft.
Bearing device, conveying device, inspection device, and machine tool
A bearing includes an inner ring and an outer ring arranged to face each other with a rolling element interposed therebetween, and a housing including a housing inner supported by the inner ring and a rotor flange supported by the outer ring. The rotor flange includes a flange portion extending toward one end surface side in an axial direction of the outer ring, and a C-type retaining ring arranged at the other end surface side in the axial direction of the outer ring. A push ring formed of a resin material is provided in a gap between the flange portion and the one end surface in the axial direction.
