The composite layer may include a matrix of plastics polymer-based material. The plastics polymer-based material may have 0.1 to 20 percent by volume of liquid-filled microcapsules distributed throughout the matrix, and incidental impurities.

A bearing may include a substrate and a metallic layer disposed in contact with the substrate. An adhesive layer may be disposed in contact with the metallic layer. A supporting layer may be disposed in contact with the adhesive layer. According to an example, a polymer layer may be disposed in contact with the adhesive layer. According to another example, a polymer layer may be disposed in contact with the supporting layer.

The present invention relates to a method for producing bearing shells of plain bearings, in which the bearing shells are blasted with corundum particles on the bearing metal side, in order in this way to produce residual compressive stresses in the blasted side of the bearing shell. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a bearing shell produced using such a method.

THRUST BEARING ASSEMBLY INCLUDING LINED BEARING SURFACES

A turbocharger (1) includes compressor and turbine wheels (4, 5) and a shaft (6) that connects the compressor wheel (5) to the turbine wheel (4). The shaft (6) is supported by a thrust bearing assembly (20) that includes a pair of thrust washers (42a, 42b) mounted on the shaft (6), a hollow, cylindrical spacer (80) disposed on the shaft (6) between and abutting first faces (44) of the thrust washers (42a, 42b), and a thrust bearing (100) supported on the spacer (80) between the thrust washers (42a, 42b). One of the thrust bearing (100) or the first and second thrust washers (42a, 42b) includes a copper-alloy lining (60) where the lining (60) is provided in a first region (58a) and in a second region (58b), and the remainder of the thrust bearing (100) or the first and second thrust washers (42a, 42b) is lining free.

The invention relates to a plain bearing composite material, comprising a supporting layer (12) made of steel, a bearing metal layer (14) made of copper or a copper alloy, which is applied to the supporting layer (12), and a functional layer (16) made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy, which is applied to the bearing metal layer (14).
