Ball Socket Assembly and Method of Making
The ball socket assembly includes a housing with an inner bore, and a bearing is received in the inner bore. The bearing is made as a monolithic piece of a plastic material and has a curved bearing surface which surrounds a ball cavity. The ball socket assembly also includes a ball stud with a ball portion and a shank portion. The ball portion is received in the ball cavity of the bearing and has an equator. The curved bearing surface of the bearing is in slidable contact with the ball portion on opposite axial sides of the equator. The plastic material of the bearing comprises 8-12 mass percent petratetrafluoroethylene, 2-6 mass percent carbon fibers, and the remainder acetal.
BEARING LAMINATE COMPRISING A FOAM LAYER
A bearing laminate can include a metal support layer, a foam layer overlying the metal support layer, the foam layer including a polymeric foam; and a sliding layer overlying the polymeric foam layer, the sliding layer comprising a polymer matrix. Bearing articles made from the bearing laminate can have exceptional damping properties, such as a high damping ratio combined with a low dynamic stiffness.
BEARING, HINGE ASSEMBLIES, AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
A bearing including a substrate and a low friction layer, where the bearing includes an annular shape including a radial bearing portion in the form of an axially-extending base region, and an axial bearing portion in the form of a radially-extending flange, where the axial bearing portion terminates in a deep drawn axially extending lip, and at least one of a radial coining region or an axial coining region, where the radial coining region is positioned along the radially-extending flange and forms an annular depression, where the axial coining region is positioned along the axially-extending base region, and where the axial coining region is deformed so as to be non-parallel to a longitudinal axis of the bearing.
SLIDE BEARING COMPRISING A PRIMER SYSTEM AS ADHESION PROMOTER
A slide bearing can include a metal support, a primer layer, an adhesive layer applied directly thereto, and a sliding layer applied to the adhesive layer. The primer layer can include an oligomeric condensate of at least one silanol selected from the group having the formula:
##STR00001## wherein x is 1 or 2, y is 0 or 1.
The moieties R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 can be the same or different. The moieties R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 can be selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, i-propyl, and a functionalized alkyl group R(CH.sub.2).sub.z, wherein z is at least 1. Slide bearings comprising a primer system based on silanol oligomeric condensates show improved peel strength than their analogous slide bearings lacking the primer system.
Self-lubricated bearing compositions and methods of making the same
A self-lubricated bearing contains a first member, a second member configured to slide against the first member, and a lubricating liner disposed in a sliding contact area between the first member and the second member. The lubricating liner contains at least one structural polymer and at least one lubricant with viscosity less than 5100 centistokes. A method is also provided for making the bearings, which includes adding the at least one lubricant with viscosity less than about 5100 centistokes to one or more components of the lubricating liner during the process of making the liner or bearing. The self-lubricated bearing compositions of the invention have surprisingly long service lives versus prior art self-lubricated bearings.
Rolling bearing, machine element, and solid-film formation method
A method is provided that forms a solid film on a bearing component of a rolling bearing. A solution containing a fluorine compound and a lubricant having no functional group is allowed to adhere to the bearing component as a liquid film, the fluorine compound containing 3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate, hexafluoropropene, and methyl methacrylate as components. The solid film is formed on the at least one of the bearing components by hardening the adhering liquid film.
Metal-backed plain bearing
A bearing comprises a resin matrix filled with fluoropolymer, graphite, and other discrete particles of an additive material that is attached to a backing material. A method for manufacturing a bearing comprises depositing to a backing material a fluid polymer bearing material comprised of a resin matrix filled with fluoropolymer, various fillers, and discrete particles of an additive to form a continuous consolidated bearing material, and curing the lining material to bond the lining material onto the backing material.
Slide bearing comprising a primer system as adhesion promoter
A slide bearing can include a metal support, a primer layer, an adhesive layer applied directly thereto, and a sliding layer applied to the adhesive layer. The primer layer can include an oligomeric condensate of at least one silanol selected from the group having the formula: ##STR00001## wherein x is 1 or 2, y is 0 or 1.
RADIAL ROLLER BEARING
The present invention has an outer race having as a center axis a first axis extending in a first direction; an inner race having as the center axis the first axis; a group of rollers composed of a plurality of rollers arranged at intervals in the circumferential direction centered on the first axis between the outer raceway surface of the outer race and the inner raceway surface of the inner race; a cage for holding the group of rollers; a first regulating part for regulating the movement of the outer race to one side; and a second regulating part for regulating the movement of the outer race to another side. The first regulating part and the second regulating part are arranged at positions at which the distance between the first regulating part and the second regulating part is a prescribed distance longer than the outer race.
RETAINER FOR THRUST BEARING AND THRUST BEARING
To provide a retainer for a thrust bearing, which is to be assembled and decomposed regularly for being washed, having superior ball retaining performance itself and being attached and detached easily, and a thrust bearing having the retainer. A retainer for a thrust bearing 1, which retains a plurality balls intervened between a pair of raceway rings in a thrust bearing, is formed of a ring shaped plate member 2 formed of an injection molded body of a resin composition containing fluororesin, which is capable of injection molding, as a base resin. The ring shaped plate member 2 includes a plurality of ball pockets 3 in a circumferential direction of a ring shape. Each of the ball pockets 3 includes a claw portion divided into two portions 3a or more to retain a ball 5 in a detachable manner. The claw portion 3a is defined by a slit 4 formed on at least one surface 2a among facing surfaces of the ring shaped plate member 2 facing raceway rings, the slit 4 being formed around an opening 3d of the ball pocket 3.
