The shaped article is made of a resin composition containing: inorganic fibers having an average fiber length of 1 m to 300 m and an average aspect ratio of 3 to 200; and a thermoplastic resin, and the inorganic fibers have an average orientation angle of 24 or lower.

Bearing isolator for extreme conditions

A bearing isolator having a simple design and made from low-cost materials but which performs comparably to other higher-cost bearing isolators is described. The bearing isolator generally includes a rotor having a snap fit feature protruding from a radially-oriented flange and a stator having a snap fit feature recess for receiving the snap fit feature to thereby join together the stator and rotor without need for, e.g., a separate unitizing element. Furthermore, the rotor and/or stator can be made from lost cost material, such as a nylon/moly material. In some embodiments, the stator further includes a lip seal biased against the radially-oriented flange of the rotor, which, when combined with the labyrinth passage formed at least in part by the snap fit feature and snap fit feature recess, helps to prevent egress and ingress of lubricant and/or contaminates.

A propeller shaft assembly including a first shaft that presents a plurality of external splines, and a second shaft that has an internal wall which defines an axial bore. The axial bore receives the first shaft and presents a plurality of internal splines that are interleaved with the external splines of the first shaft for providing relative axial movement between the first and second shafts while rotationally fixing the first and second shafts to one another. At least one thrust ring is positioned against the internal wall of the second shaft and surrounds the external splines of the first shaft. The at least one thrust ring has at least one contact portion that is radially deformed in a bending manner against the external splines for causing a radial preload against the external splines. The at least thrust ring extends between a pair of ends that are disposed in spaced relationship with one another to define a gap between the ends.

Disposed between the thrust bearing part (40) and the upper case (2) is a ring-shaped lubrication sheet (6), which has surfaces (62, 63) that slide on the mating surfaces facing same.

The slide-bearing assembly additionally includes a post that extends from a surface of each of the multiple elongate pieces, which is a surface that is opposed to the second load-carrying surface, each post is sized to fit in a respective recess of the second load-carrying surface. The slide-bearing assembly further includes at least one coating on the first load-carrying surface made of high-performance thermoplastic material(s).

The content of the glass fiber is 10 to 40 mass %.

When measured by an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and an X-ray diffraction method, a ratio of a peak height of the metal oxide to a peak height of metal sulfide by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy is from 0.10 to 0.50, and a ratio of the peak height of the metal oxide to the peak height of the metal sulfide by the X-ray diffraction method is 0.10 or less.
