Cu—Ni—Sn alloy overlay for bearing surfaces on oilfield equipment

A bearing surface of an oilfield component is treated by applying a surface treatment having a low coefficient of friction to the bearing surface of the oilfield component by weld fusing an overlay of a CuNiSn alloy material to the bearing surface. Weld fusing the overlay of the CuNiSn alloy material to the bearing surface can involve laser surface cladding the overlay of the CuNiSn alloy material to the bearing surface, gas tungsten arc welding the overlay of the CuNiSn alloy material to the bearing surface, or plasma tungsten arc welding the overlay of the CuNiSn alloy material to the bearing surface.

Thrust washer

A thrust washer for a sliding bearing may include a thrust washer substrate having an axial face. The thrust washer may also have a polymer layer of profiled thickness on the axial face of the substrate. The profiled polymer layer may be provided with at least one oil distribution groove.

A bearing component such as a bearing ring includes a metallic base body and at least one alloy steel coating on the base body, the coating being applied to the base body by deposition welding. The base body is preferably non-alloy steel or cast iron, and the alloy includes at least one carbide-forming transition metal such as niobium, tantalum, zirconium, titanium, hafnium, tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, or manganese. The coating can form a raceway of the bearing component or a structural element such as a flange. Also a method of forming such a bearing component is provided.
