COATED BEARING COMPONENTS
A rolling element for a roller bearing. The rolling element may include a metal substrate having a surface layer. A portion of the surface layer may include a hardened nitrided layer. A diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating may be bonded directly on at least a portion of the hardened nitrided layer.
SLIDING MEMBER
Disclosed herein is a sliding member having an alloy overlay layer that comes into sliding contact with a counterpart member thereof and has improved fatigue resistance. The sliding member comprises a base material layer and an alloy overlay layer formed on the base material layer, in which the alloy overlay layer has a soft metal phase made of tin and precipitated in a metallic matrix phase made of aluminum, and when an average aspect ratio of the soft metal phase is defined as A, and its standard deviation is defined as A, A+A is 3.0 or less. In this case, the soft metal phase has a shape close to a sphere without elongating in a certain direction.
BEARING WITH MEASUREMENT FUNCTION
In order to determine information about the generation of heat in a bearing (10) in a simple manner, a bearing (10) includes an outer ring (12) secured to a securing member, and an inner ring (11) provided on the inside of the outer ring (12) and secured to a shaft that rotates in the circumferential direction relative to the securing member. A thermal flow sensor (14) is provided as a coating on a securing-side surface that includes the outer ring (12), and generates a thermoelectromotive force including information about frictional heat generated with the rotation of the shaft.
Methods and systems for micro machines
A micro machine may be in or less than the micrometer domain. The micro machine may include a micro actuator and a micro shaft coupled to the micro actuator. The micro shaft is operable to be driven by the micro actuator. A tool is coupled to the micro shaft and is operable to perform work in response to at least motion of the micro shaft.

Sliding member and piston ring
The provided sliding member has both excellent wear resistance and excellent coating adhesion even under harsh sliding conditions. The disclosed sliding member (100) is used in the presence of a lubricating oil and includes a base member (10), a metal intermediate layer (12) formed on the sliding surface (10A) side of the base member, a layered carbon coating (18) formed on the metal intermediate layer and having a first carbon coating (14) and a second carbon coating (16) layered alternately therein, and a hard carbon coating (20) formed on the layered carbon coating. Under bright-field observation with a transmission electron microscope, an image of the first carbon coating (14) is brighter than an image of the second carbon coating (16). Furthermore, 10 nm<T21000 nm and 0.010T1/T20.60, where T1 and T2 are the thicknesses of the first and second carbon coatings (14, 16).
CORROSION-RESISTANT MEMBER
A corrosion-resistant member (10) provided with: a base material (16) made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy; a diamond-like carbon film (18) formed on a surface of the base material (16) and made of amorphous carbon (a-C) or hydrogenated amorphous carbon (a-C:H); and an epoxy resin-containing coating material (20), which at least fills open pores (24) of the diamond-like carbon film (18).
FRICTION PIECE, MECHANICAL SYSTEM COMPRISING SUCH A FRICTION PIECE AND METHOD OF IMPLEMENTATION
The present invention concerns a friction piece (10) suitable for operating in a lubricated medium at a temperature higher than 200 C. The piece (10) comprises a metal surface (12) and an external coating (14) composed of tungsten carbide doped with nitrogen WC(N) with an atomic ratio of nitrogen between 5 and 12%. The invention also relates to a mechanical system (1) comprising such a piece (10). The invention also relates to a method for implementing such a piece (10).

An apparatus is provided that includes a diamond bearing surface positioned in sliding engagement with an opposing bearing surface of a diamond reactive material. The opposing bearing surface is hardened via a material treatment.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A MULTI-LAYER PLAIN BEARING ELEMENT
The invention relates to a method for producing a multi-layer sliding bearing element (1), according to which, in a chamber of a cathode sputtering installation a metal layer is deposited on a substrate by means of cathode sputtering of at least one target, said method comprising the steps: introducing a substrate into the chamber of the cathode sputtering installation; ion etching of the surface of the substrate to be coated by ion bombardment, whereby substrate particles are removed from the surface of the substrate; depositing the metal layer on the substrate, whereto target particles are produced from at least one target that is connected as the cathode, said particles being settled on the substrate. In the step of ion etching of the substrate, the target is connected as the anode and at least some of the substrate particles are deposited on the target. The polarity of the target is then reversed for the deposition of the metal layer on the surface of the substrate.
