A lubrication system for an enclosed rolling element bearing may be achieved through a channel drilled through the outer race of the bearing and the outer surface of the bearing housing. The channel provides a direct path for the injection of lubricant via a grease gun or syringe to reach the rolling elements within. The lubrication system can be adjusted to assure lubricant does not leak from the channel with the addition of a tube or hollow screw or combination of the two along the entirety of the channel.

Device for improving the vacuum in the housing of a machine

The disclosure relates to a device for improving a vacuum in the housing of a machine, in particular a centrifugal-mass energy store, comprising a rotor, for example a shaft having a centrifugal mass arranged thereon, which rotor is supported on at least one superconducting bearing in a contactless manner and is arranged in a vacuum container. In order to maintain the operating state of the superconducting bearing, the superconducting bearing is thermally connected to a cold source cooled by a cryogenic medium. According to the invention, the vacuum in the vacuum container is improved by means of an adsorber thermally connected to a cooling apparatus. The cooling of the adsorber occurs preferably by means of evaporated cooling medium from the superconducting bearing.

A magnetic fluid seal includes an outer cylinder member with a heat barrier that internally houses a rotating shaft extending from a housing of a fluid machine and includes an attachment portion to be attached to the housing, magnetic pole members that are disposed around the rotating shaft housed in the outer cylinder member and form a magnetic circuit, and sealing films that are magnetically connected to the magnetic circuit, are respectively disposed between the magnetic pole members and the rotating shaft, are made of magnetic fluids, and are formed in an axial direction.

Bearing testing apparatus and method

A testing apparatus includes a chamber, having an interior maintained at a predetermined pressure, a rotor rotatably disposed within the interior of the chamber, and a sensor disposed within the interior of the chamber. When the rotor rotates, the at least one sensor measures a testing characteristic of an object disposed within the interior of the chamber as the object interacts with the rotating rotor. A method includes setting a predetermined pressure of a chamber, rotating a rotor, and maintaining a gap between a surface of an object to be tested and a surface of the rotor by adjusting, with an actuator, the object to be tested or the rotor based upon a change, as measured by a laser, in the dimension of the object to be tested or the rotor.
