A top drive for well operations having a gearbox, a traction motor connected to the gearbox so that a motor shaft of the traction motor extends into the gearbox, a quill extending into the gearbox, a gear train positioned within the gearbox and mechanically connected between the traction motor shaft and the quill, and a connector positioned in the gear train, wherein in a coupled configuration the connector communicates torque through the gear train, and wherein in a decoupled configuration the connector does not communicate torque through the gear train. A method for operating a top drive by applying a first torque to a quill with two traction motors, disconnecting one of the traction motors from the quill, and applying a second torque less than the first torque to the quill with the non-disconnected traction motor.

Connecting Structure Mounting Wheel To Half Shaft
20170355226 · 2017-12-14 ·

A half shaft connects to the mounting bracket of the wheel in a splined connection. The straight external spline of the half shaft is modified to a helical or involute external spline, in which the helix angle adopted is small. The mounting bracket of the wheel can be longitudinally advanced by hand assembly only part way onto the half shaft. The rest of the longitudinal advancement during assembly occurs by tightening the nut to completely eliminate the fit clearance between the external spline and its corresponding mating arrangement. Various road tests of vehicles verify that, when using the present invention, the nut does not loosen during use of the vehicle. The invention enables the locking force of the nut to be reduced, and assembly and maintenance are convenient.

The present invention provides a coupler comprising: an inner insertion part including a through-hole; and an outer support part for encompassing the outside of the inner insertion part, wherein the inner insertion part includes a connection groove through which the outer support part passes, the outer support part includes at least one projection part protruding in the center direction of the through-hole, and the projection part includes a groove part.

QUICK DISCONNECT COUPLING FOR A PROPELLER
20170349264 · 2017-12-07 · ·

A coupling is disclosed for connecting a propeller to a motor in an aircraft such as a rotary wing aircraft and the like. The coupling comprises a propeller hub having an inner propeller hub bore defining an axial keyway. A rotatable shaft has an internal shaft bore connected for rotation with the motor. A radial key is slidably located in a radial aperture extending through the rotatable shaft. An actuator is slidably mounted within the internal shaft bore of the rotatable shaft. The radial key is received with the axial keyway for securing the propeller hub to the rotatable shaft. A depression of the actuator retracting the radial key relative to an outer surface of the rotatable shaft for permitting the propeller hub bore to be introduced onto the rotatable shaft.

ELECTRIC SUBMERSIBLE PUMP (ESP) ASSEMBLY WITH LOAD ABSORBING COUPLING

An electric submersible pump (ESP) assembly that includes an electric motor with a splined drive shaft with drive shaft teeth, an ESP mechanically coupled to the electric motor that includes a splined ESP shaft with ESP shaft teeth, and a downhole component mechanically coupled to the electric motor that includes a splined component shaft with component shaft teeth. Splined couplings each include a central axis and grooves through the coupling with groove sidewalls sized to receive the shaft teeth. The grooves are angled relative to the central axis to form a space on either side of each tooth in each groove for at least a portion of the overlapped length of the tooth within the groove. Each coupling is engageable with the teeth of two of the drive shaft, the pump shaft, or the component shaft to mechanically couple the electric motor, the ESP, and the downhole component.
