An automatic transmission includes a clutch device having a clutch hub, a clutch drum, a friction plate, a piston, and a hydraulic chamber. The clutch drum includes an outer-side cylindrical portion, a disc-shaped first radial portion extending radially inwardly, an axial portion extending axially from the first radial portion, and a disc-shaped second radial portion extending radially inwardly from the axial portion. The piston includes a pressing portion disposed between the first radial portion and the friction plate side, and a disc-shaped piston radial portion extending radially inwardly from the pressing portion. The hydraulic chamber is provided radially inwardly from the axial portion and on the non-friction-plate side of the piston radial portion. A comb-teeth portion is provided at a radially intermediate portion of the piston radial portion. The axial portion and the piston radial portion intersect with each other in a comb-teeth shape.

A hybrid module for a drive train of a motor vehicle comprises a housing, a disconnect clutch, and a hydraulic actuating unit cooperating with the disconnect clutch and received on the housing. The module includes an electric motor, wherein a rotor of the electric motor is rotationally coupled to a clutch component of the disconnect clutch. The actuating unit has a piston element, which is received such that it is displaceable relative to the housing and which, via an actuating bearing, is connected to a pressure element such that it is fixed against displacement in an axial direction of the disconnect clutch yet rotatable relative to the pressure element. The pressure element is configured for engagement and disengagement of the disconnect clutch, and the actuating bearing is formed as an axial needle bearing.

A separating clutch for a drive train of a motor vehicle includes a torque forwarding component, an outer multiple disc carrier fixed to the torque forwarding component for conjoint rotation, a first plurality of friction discs, a second plurality of friction discs arranged to transmit torque through a non-positive connection with the first plurality of friction discs, a pressing element having a first side facing the friction discs and a second side, opposite the first side, facing away from the friction discs, and a restoring spring. The pressing element is for axially displacing a one of the first or second plurality of friction discs to realize the non-positive connection, and the restoring spring contacts the pressing element for canceling the non-positive connection. The restoring spring engages through and behind the first side from the second side in a positively locking connection with the pressing element.

A disconnect clutch for a drive train of a motor vehicle includes a torque transfer component with a contact region, an outer disc carrier, an application element, and a return spring. The outer disc carrier is rotationally and axially fixed on the torque transfer component, and arranged for receiving rotationally fixed and axially displaceable friction discs arranged for torque transmission with counter friction discs. The application element is for axially displacing at least one of the friction discs for a frictional connection and the return spring is for releasing the frictional connection. The return spring contacts the application element, the return spring comprises a radially outer portion that bears against the contact region, and the contact region is designed to modify a preload of the return spring.

A torque converter assembly that has a turbine assembly, a pump assembly, and a clutch assembly that selectively rotationally couples the turbine assembly to the pump assembly. The clutch assembly also has at least one clutch disk and a backing plate assembly defining a backing plate surface and formed by a first plate and a second plate coupled to one another. The first plate and the second plate are coupled to each other at a first radius and a second radius, the second radius being substantially adjacent to the backing plate surface.

A hybrid module includes a driveshaft connection point for receiving a first torque, a transmission shaft connection point for outputting a second torque, a torque-receiving means for receiving a third torque from an electrical machine, and a dry multiplate clutch. The dry multiplate clutch includes an outer plate holder, torsionally rigidly connected to the transmission shaft connection point and to the torque-receiving means, an inner plate holder, torsionally rigidly connected to the driveshaft connection point, at least one outer plate axially movably mounted in the outer plate holder, and a plurality of inner plates, axially movably mounted in the inner plate holder to form a stack of plates together with the at least one outer plate. When the stack of plates is axially pressed with a target contact pressure, a target torque can be transmitted from the driveshaft connection point to the torque-receiving means and the transmission shaft connection point.
Fast release mechanism for twin plate friction clutches
A fast release mechanism for a twin plate friction clutch including a biasing member positioned between the intermediate plate and the flywheel surface, and a retaining member for retaining the biasing member in place relative to the intermediate plate or flywheel surface during installation. In one embodiment, the fast release mechanism comprises a spring and a clip that retains the spring in place relative to the intermediate plate. When used with positioner pins extending through the intermediate plate, each clip may be U-shaped and includes a hole on its upper wall and a slot on its lower wall sized to receive the pin. The arms defining the slot extend partly over the end of the springs to keep the spring in place.
