Failsafe Multimode Clutch Assemblies for Rotorcraft
20220025941 · 2022-01-27 · ·

A failsafe multimode clutch assembly positioned in a powertrain of a rotorcraft. The clutch assembly includes a freewheeling having a driving mode in which torque applied to the input race is transferred to the output race and an overrunning mode in which torque applied to the output race is not transferred to the input race. A bypass assembly has an engaged position that couples the input and output races of the freewheeling unit. An actuator assembly uses pressurized lubricating oil to shift the bypass assembly between the engaged position and a disengaged position. A lock assembly enables and disables actuation of the bypass assembly. In the disengaged position, the overrunning mode of the freewheeling unit enables a unidirectional torque transfer mode of the clutch assembly. In the engaged position, the overrunning mode of the freewheeling unit is disabled such that the clutch assembly is configured for bidirectional torque transfer.

CONTINUOUS VARIABLE TRANSMISSION HYDRAULIC PRESSURE CONTROL DEVICE

A continuous variable transmission (CVT) hydraulic pressure control device includes: a pressure regulation valve regulating an operation pressure of oil supplied to a friction element of a forward-rearward device; and a switch valve to respectively switch oil discharge paths through which the oil supplied to the friction element is discharged, respectively by a pilot pressure from the pressure regulation valve and an elastic force of a return spring. In particular, the oil discharge paths switched by the switch valve have oil flow resistances different from each other.

High efficiency, high output transmission

A transmission includes an input shaft coupled to a prime mover, a countershaft, main shaft, and an output shaft, with gears between the countershaft and the main shaft. A shift actuator selectively couples the input shaft to the main shaft by rotatably coupling gears between the countershaft and the main shaft. The shift actuator is mounted on an exterior wall of a housing including the countershaft and the main shaft. An integrated actuator housing includes a single external power access for the shift actuator. A controller interprets a shaft displacement angle, determines if the transmission is in an imminent zero or zero torque region, and performs a transmission operation in response to the transmission in the imminent zero or zero torque region.

Clutch hydraulic control circuit with a pilot operated failure mode response valve

A transmission for a machine is disclosed. The transmission may comprise a first torque path for transmission of torque from an input shaft to an output shaft, and a single clutch element along the first torque path. The transmission may further comprise a clutch actuator configured to actuate engagement of the clutch element, and a clutch pressure control (CPC) valve configured to permit a flow of hydraulic fluid to the clutch actuator when in an open position to cause the clutch actuator to actuate engagement of the clutch element. The transmission may further comprise a FMR valve having a failure position obstructing flow of the hydraulic fluid from the CPC valve to the clutch actuator when the CPC valve is in the open position. The FMR valve actuated by pilot pressure from a CPC valve that controls actuation of other clutch elements that are not on the first torque path.

Clutch control method for vehicle

A clutch control method for a vehicle includes: increasing, by a controller, a clutch torque to a refill execution torque at a predetermined first inclination when a predetermined first reference time period has elapsed in a micro-slip state of a clutch; increasing, by the controller, the clutch torque to a refill torque at a predetermined second inclination to initiate refilling of a pressure chamber of a hydraulic-driving actuator with oil in a reservoir tank when the clutch torque reaches the refill execution torque; and maintaining the clutch torque at the refill torque during a predetermined second reference time period.

Clutch Engagement Booster System

A clutch engagement booster system is an apparatus used to support and improve clutch engagement on motor vehicles, both as a modification to existing clutch assemblies or as a standalone installation in various embodiments. The clutch engagement booster system utilizes a casing and pressure housing supporting a diaphragm, an expansion chamber, an engagement member, and at least one clutch element. The expansion chamber is formed between the diaphragm and the pressure housing in fluid communication with at least one pressure source through the at least one regulator device. The at least one clutch element is positioned within the casing, opposite the diaphragm across the engagement member. As the expansion chamber is pressurized the diaphragm deforms towards the engagement member, thereby forcing the at least one clutch element into engagement to transfer power through a host transmission.
