A differential device is provided with an outer case receiving torque; a differential gear set so geared as to allow differential motion between first and second axles; a clutch including an inner case supporting the differential gear set, and a clutch ring drivingly engaged with the outer case to transmit the torque from the outer case and axially movable to disconnectably connect with the inner case, the clutch ring having an end section led out of the outer case; a first spring creating a repulsive force in a disconnecting direction; a second spring creating a repulsive force in a connecting direction; and an actuator including a plunger so disposed as to exert a thrust force axially on the end section of the clutch ring, and a solenoid driving the plunger in a direction to make the clutch ring disconnect from or connect with the inner case.

The rotary power tool further includes a clutch mechanism between the output shaft and the drive mechanism. The clutch mechanism includes a compression spring and is configured to limit the amount of torque provided by the output shaft. The rotary power tool further includes a sensor positioned on a neck portion of the gear case subject to strain imparted by the compression spring, and an electronic control unit configured to receive an output signal from the strain gauge and determine a torque setting of the clutch mechanism based on the output signal.

A rotary power tool including a gear case, an output shaft extending from the gear case, and a drive mechanism configured to provide torque to the output shaft, causing the output shaft to rotate. The rotary power tool further includes a clutch mechanism between the output shaft and the drive mechanism. A vehicle transfer case is provided including input and output shafts mounted within a housing, a secondary shaft selectively driven by the output shaft, a first hub having an inner diameter splined section having a first extreme neutral position with exclusive torsional engagement with the output shaft, and in a second intermediate high position having torsional engagement with the output shaft and input shafts, and in a third extreme low position having exclusive torsional engagement with the input shaft. A second hub is provided, rotatably mounted on the first hub and axially fixed therewith. The second hub is torsionally fixed to the output shaft, and a shift fork is provided to translate the second hub. A planetary gear set is provided, having a ring gear, a plurality of planet gears connected to each other by a carrier and a sun gear; and wherein in the extreme neutral position the output shaft is disengaged from the input shaft, and in the second intermediate position the input shaft is directly connected to the output shaft without rotating the planetary gear set, and in the extreme third position the first hub torsionally connects the input shaft to the sun gear, and the second hub is connected with the carrier.

CONTROL DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD FOR VEHICLE

A control device for a vehicle is provided. The control device includes an electronic control unit that is configured to: exert the torque of an input member on a fixed member and a rotating member such that the fixed member and the rotating member are separated from each other, when the thrust is exerted for making the engagement teeth mesh with each other; estimate an inclination angle of tooth surfaces based on a relative movement amount between the fixed member and the rotating member, and a relative rotational amount between the fixed member and the rotating member; estimate a frictional coefficient of the tooth surfaces based on the inclination angle; and control the thrust of the actuator according to the frictional coefficient.
