A braking assembly is disclosed comprising a shaft, a brake cage being rotatable with the shaft, an earth ring extending circumferentially around the brake cage, at least one engagement member coupled to the shaft, and a braking mechanism configured for selectively applying a force to the brake cage for slowing or preventing rotational movement of the brake cage such that the shaft rotates relative to the brake cage, and wherein the braking assembly is configured such that when the shaft rotates relative to the brake cage, said at least one engagement member is urged to engage the earth ring such that rotation of the shaft is inhibited or prevented. The earth ring may be replaced with an output shaft such that the assembly operates as a clutch assembly.

The actuator module includes an electromagnetic actuator equipped with an energizeable coil assembly, a strut moveable in response to energization of the coil assembly from a released position to a locked position with respect to ratchet teeth formed on a second clutch member of the clutch module, and a strut spring biasing the strut toward its released position. The strut spring is configured to provide an anti-tilting feature.

Freewheel

The present invention relates to a freewheel (20) comprising a first race (22), a second race (24) rotatable relative to the first race (22) in a first direction of rotation (70), and clamping elements (32) between the first and second race (22, 24) which are in rotary driving connection with the first race (22), wherein, in a second direction of rotation (72) opposite the first direction of rotation (70), the second race (24) is coupled in a rotary entrainment way to the first race (22) in a relative rotation position via at least one of the clamping elements (32). The at least one clamping element (32) is displaceable in axial direction (6) from an initial position into a disengagement position by changing the relative rotational position between the first and second race (22, 24).

A one-way clutch includes multiple sprags located between an outer ring member and an inner ring member, a cage that holds the sprags such that the sprags are circumferentially spaced from each other, and a spring disposed along the cage and in contact with the sprags. The cage includes a tubular body and an annular flange. The body has multiple pockets that hold the sprags. The flange extends from an axial end of the body toward the outer ring member. A clearance is formed between the outer ring member and the flange along their entire circumference.

A clutch assembly for driveline components is provided. The ball ramp having first and second ball ramp members and at least one ball is provided. The first ball ramp member of the ball ramp is in operational communication with an input member to the clutch assembly. A first set of plates of a clutch pack are in operational communication with the input member and a second set of plates of the clutch pack are in operational communication with an output member. A sprag clutch assembly that is operationally coupled to the second ball ramp member of the ball ramp, only allows the second ball ramp member of the ball ramp to rotate in first direction. A thrust bearing that is in operational communication with the second ball ramp member of the ball ramp selectively disengages the clutch pack when the output member rotates in a second direction.
