Brake component positioning assembly

A brake component positioning assembly that is removably connectable to a component of a heavy-duty vehicle. The brake component positioning assembly enables a brake system component to be positioned away from a wheel end of the heavy-duty vehicle to allow removal or servicing of at least one component of a wheel end assembly or the vehicle brake system. In one embodiment, the brake component positioning assembly includes a base block disposed in a cutout of a torque plate. A positioning block slidably engages one or more guide pins received by or disposed through the base block. A positioning bolt threadably engages the positioning block, whereby upon rotation of the positioning bolt, the positioning block and brake system component are positioned away from the bottom block and wheel end. Components of the brake component positioning assembly can be removably connected to each other.

Disk Brake and Brake Pad

An electrically or pneumatically activated disc brake for a commercial vehicle includes: a brake disc having a preferred rotating direction; a brake carrier; a brake caliper guided so as to be displaceable on the brake carrier; a tensioning-side brake pad and a reaction-side brake pad which, in a tensioning-side pad take-up and in a reaction-side pad take-up, are disposed so as to be displaceable parallel to a brake disc rotation axis; and a tensioning device which has a single compression piston with a central axis and which on an end facing the tensioning-side brake pad has a compression piece which by way of a compression face acts on a corresponding counter bearing face of the tensioning-side brake pad such that, when tensioning the brake, an effective area is configured between the compression face and the counter bearing face. The tensioning-side brake pad and the reaction-side brake pad in the circumferential direction are aligned so as to be centered in terms of the brake disc and the central axis of the piston. The effective area, on which the compression face and the counter bearing face bear on one another when tensioning the disc brake, in the circumferential direction lies so as to be offset toward the egress side in terms of the preferred rotating direction of the brake disc and the central axis of the piston.

Friction Pad Carrier for a Disc Brake

A friction pad carrier for a vehicle disc brake includes a frame having an aperture through which a portion of a rotor rotating about a rotational axis extends. The frame mounts friction pads on opposite sides of the rotor. The frame includes lugs proximate each end that receive fasteners coupling the frame to an anchor plate mounted on an axle of the vehicle. The fasteners permit some amount of surge movement and sway movement between the frame and the anchor plate in a plane at the interface between the frame and the anchor plate and yaw movement about an axis perpendicular to the plane. A first alignment pin between one of the lugs and the anchor plate inhibits the amount of surge movement and sway movement and a second alignment pin between one of the lugs and the anchor plate inhibits the amount of yaw movement.

WHEEL AND BRAKE ASSEMBLIES

A braking assembly for inhibiting rotation of a wheel around a rotation axis is provided. The braking assembly includes a drive gear, an actuator, an electric braking assembly, a mechanical braking assembly including a brake pad, and a brake rotor fixedly coupled to the wheel. The drive gear rotates with the wheel and includes a pinion. The electric braking assembly includes a coil surrounding the rotation axis, and a magnetic disc assembly concentric with the coil and configured to rotate relative to the coil. The magnetic disc assembly includes a plurality of magnets at a perimeter of the disc. The actuator engages the pinion to inhibit rotation of the magnets and generate an electro motive force to inhibit rotation of the wheel. The actuator engages the brake pad to contact the rotor and inhibit rotation between the wheel and the brake pad.

A brake caliper device is adapted to be used with a brake disk, and includes a main body unit, first and second pads, a caliper actuator unit, and a positioning unit. The caliper actuator unit includes an actuating member, a bolt member that abuts against the actuating member, and a threaded sleeve that is threadedly engaged to the bolt member.
