System and Method for Using a Single-Serve Nutrient Spore Composition for Small Scale Farm Applications

A system and method for incubating a nutrient spore composition to at least begin the germination process at a point-of-use for small-scale farm applications. The composition comprises solid or powdered L-amino acids, a buffer, optionally D-glucose and/or D-fructose, optionally potassium, and Bacillus spores in a pre-measured filter packet. The method comprises adding a small amount of hot water in a temperature range of 60 C. to 80 C. to the filter packet for an incubation period of around 2 to 60 minutes to form an incubated bacteria solution that is discharged to a farm application. A drip-style coffee maker or similar system may be used to add hot water to the filter packet. The incubated bacteria solution is dispensed to animal drinking water, plants/crops, or an aquaculture pond.

Edible foodstuffs and bio reactor design

Methods of production of edible filamentous fungal biomat formulations are provided as standalone protein sources and/or protein ingredients in foodstuffs as well as a one-time use or repeated use self-contained biofilm-biomat reactor comprising a container with at least one compartment and placed within the compartment(s), a feedstock, a fungal inoculum, a gas-permeable membrane, and optionally a liquid nutrient medium.

The present invention relates to a novel bacteriophage that lyses Acinetobacter genus bacteria, in particular, Acinetobacter genus bacteria having resistance to antibiotics. The bacteriophage of the present invention can be used in various fields, such as antibiotic composition, feed additive composition, feed, disinfectant, cleaning agent, and a composition for prevention or treatment of an infectious disease caused by Acinetobacter genus bacteria.

Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis CCFM1018 and Application Thereof in Preparation of Food and Medicine for Excreting Plasticizer
20200407810 · 2020-12-31 ·

The disclosure discloses Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis CCFM1018 and application thereof in preparation of food and medicine for excreting a plasticizer, and belongs to the technical field of microorganisms. The Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis CCFM1018 not only is significantly better than the intestinal resident bacteria Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis in terms of the effect of promoting the excretion of DEHP and MEHP, but also is better than the commercial strain Lactobacillus rhamnosus LGG. Therefore, the Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis CCFM1018 of the disclosure can be used as an effective means to prevent and alleviate body damage caused by DEHP and MEHP, and does not have toxic or side effects of drugs. Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis CCFM1018 can be used to prepare pharmaceutical compositions and fermented food for alleviating and preventing the toxicity of DEHP and metabolites thereof, and has a very broad application prospect.

MICROBIAL COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR TREATING TYPE 2 DIABETES, OBESITY, AND METABOLIC SYNDROME

The present invention relates to the identification of a group of microorganisms, which are relatively abundant in the microbial communities associated with fruits and vegetables typically consumed raw and therefore transient or permanent members of the human microbiota. The consumption of mixtures of these microbes at relevant doses will produce a beneficial effect in the host by reducing the propensity to diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome mediated in part by production of short chain fatty acids to enhance colonic butyrate production. Therapeutic methods of the invention involve the use of live microorganisms or metabolites derived from said microorganisms to establish a microbial composition in the mammalian host that will improve significantly the ability to control weight, reduce the onset of diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome, and improve overall health.

Method for preventing, postponing or treating changes in the anterior/posterior chamber volume, vitreous humour, and/or retinal detachment
