A heavy vehicle drum brake shoe guide and an assembly comprising the brake shoe guide are described. In one aspect, there is provided a brake shoe guide for attachment to a drum brake shoe by a pin fastener, to prevent brake shoe misalignment. There is also provided a brake shoe guide assembly including at least a brake shoe guide and a pin fastener for securing the brake shoe guide to a drum brake shoe. The brake shoe guide described herein is simple to fit to a standard, off the shelf brake shoe, and can be retrofitable to a brake shoe and/or brake assembly. Moreover, the brake shoe guide assembly described herein can retain the cam follower roller to the brake shoe, and act as an axle for the cam follower roller, eliminating the need for a separate retainer clip. Further still, the guide and the assembly of which it forms a part can be used with drums of various sizes.

Knuckle for a self-steering axle/suspension system

A knuckle for a heavy-duty vehicle self-steering axle/suspension system that includes integrally formed structure for mounting components of a drum brake system. The knuckle includes a spindle that is welded directly to the knuckle and a discrete tie rod arm bolted to the knuckle.

Rail vehicle braking system and braking method for a rail vehicle comprising such a system

The invention concerns a rail vehicle braking system comprising a service brake having a movable piston (8) which with a body (2) of the system delimits a service brake chamber (13) supplied by a first source, a piston rod (21) disposed in that chamber and fastened to a second side (32) of the piston turned towards that chamber, and a parking brake (7) disposed in said body and comprising a blocking device (20) disposed in that chamber and movable to act on said rod, and a movable actuating device (23, 24) which is configured to be electrically actuated; said blocking and actuating devices being configured to immobilize/unblock said rod so as to block/unblock said piston in a position.

Pneumatic brake actuator with flow insensitive two way control valve

A pneumatic brake actuator has a spring brake actuator with spring and spring brake pressure chambers, and a service brake actuator with service brake pressure and pushrod chambers. A control valve has a seal that is moveable between an open position and a closed position for regulating fluid flow between the spring chamber and service brake pressure chamber. A first surface of the seal is in fluid communication with the service brake pressure chamber and a second surface of the seal is in fluid communication with a valve chamber that is not in fluid communication with the service brake pressure chamber or spring chamber. The seal moves between its open and closed positions based on a pressure in the service brake pressure chamber. Movement of the seal is not dependent on the rate of flow of fluid between the spring chamber and the service brake pressure chamber.
