PISTON MANUFACTURING DEVICE, PISTON MANUFACTURING METHOD, PISTON AND DISC BRAKE

A piston manufacturing device includes a first forming device (42) configured to form an annular groove (61) in a piston (11), and a second forming device (52) configured to press an edge (15) of an opening (14) of the piston (11) toward other end side in an axial direction of the piston (11) and to form a thick section (65) extruded from an inner circumferential surface (12b) arranged between the edge (15) and the groove (61) toward an axial center side of the piston (11), wherein a recessed section (53) is formed at a portion of the second forming device (52) that is arranged to abut the edge (15) so that an inner circumferential side of the edge (15) is plastically deformed toward the other end side in an axial direction of the piston (11).

Disc brake caliper with reduced axial dimension

A disc brake caliper, has a caliper body having a pair of half-calipers which define a housing compartment for a portion of an associable brake disc. The half-calipers being placed on opposite sides to the housing compartment in an axial direction parallel to the rotation axis of the associable brake disc. At least one half-caliper is fitted with at least one housing seat for a piston suitable to press a pad against the associable brake disc, in the axial direction. The housing seat passes through the respective half-caliper so as to extend between an inner wall facing the housing compartment and an outer wall of the half-caliper, axially opposite the housing compartment. A cup-shaped hollow insert is housed inside the housing seat so as to present a closed end wall, placed on the side of the outer wall of the half-caliper, and a cavity having an aperture facing axially towards the housing compartment. At least one piston is housed inside the cavity of the insert and is guided axially by an inner side wall of the insert.

GUIDING SYSTEM FOR A BRAKE PISTON OF A MOTOR VEHICLE DISK BRAKE

A guiding system for a brake piston of a motor-vehicle disk brake comprises a brake piston, a cylindrical brake-piston bore for accommodating the brake piston in a housing in such a way that the brake piston can be axially displaced, and a ring seal supported in the housing in an axially immovable manner, which ring seal is elastically clamped between a cylindrical brake-piston wall and a recess in the brake-piston bore. In order to improve the NVH behavior in the avoidance of disturbing noises of motor-vehicle disk brakes, a reversibly elastically preloaded guiding means is clamped between the brake-piston bore and the brake-piston wall, which guiding means is supported on the housing and couples the brake piston to the brake-piston bore in such a way that the brake piston is oriented in a specific manner.

Disclosed is a disk brake caliper assembly where a second seal is positioned in a second annular groove to eliminate the seizure of the piston cylinder that commonly occurs on trailer brakes that are immersed in water. The second seal is slightly deformable and designed to frictionally engage the piston. The second seal functions as both a wiper to keep dirt and contaminants out of the cylinder assembly and to prevent water ingress. The use of the secondary seal can compliment or eliminate the need for a dust boot.
