A middle disk is co-axially mounted onto the first abrasive disk and the second abrasive disk, wherein the middle disk is adapted to be mounted to a hub. A specific heat capacity coefficient of the heat dissipation disk is greater than that of the first abrasive disk and the second abrasive disk for absorbing thermal energy from the first abrasive disk and the second abrasive disk and lowering the temperature of the first abrasive disk and the second abrasive disk during braking.

The inner drive member (2) comprises at least two outward facing recesses (5, 6) and the outer drive member (3) comprises at least two inward facing recesses (8,9). Each outward facing recess (5,6) comprises a radially moveable roller member (10,11) of ferromagnetic material. The inner drive member (2) further comprises a magnetic biasing system (12) configured to magnetically bias the roller members (10,11) into the outward facing recesses (5,6). The bidirectional magnetic clutch further comprises a magnet actuator (13) at least partially circumferentially arranged around the outer drive member (3) and configured to maintain an engaged state or disengaged state of the bidirectional magnetic clutch.

A method for manufacturing a sintered friction material includes a step of mixing raw materials including a titanate for forming a matrix, a step of molding the raw materials, and a step of sintering a molded body molded in the molding step. In the method, a sintering temperature in the sintering step is 900° C. to 1300° C.
