Suspension Including Coil Spring and Ambient Air Cushion
A front fork of a bicycle may include a suspension system that includes a damper. The damper may include a hollow tube with orifices that may be partially blocked by an adjustable blocker. A free end of the adjuster that adjusts the blocker may maintain its axial position in any rotational position. Ambient air may be introduced through a valve and retained in the suspension system. The suspension may include a mechanical spring in a chamber away from the valve that introduces the ambient air.
Monotube damper assembly
A monotube damper assembly includes a housing presenting a wall extending between a rod end and a closed end to define a main chamber. A gas cup having a top portion and a body portion is disposed in the main chamber to divide the main chamber of the housing into a gas chamber and a fluid chamber. The gas cup includes a top portion and a body portion. A piston is disposed in the fluid chamber. A rod guide is disposed adjacent to the rod end and spaced part from the piston. A piston rod is connected to the piston. A gas damper having a cylindrical shape includes a restrictor disposed the body portion of gas cup and the top potion of the gas cup for providing additional damping force to the gas cup.
Shock Damping Systems and Methods for using Shock Damping Systems
This disclosure includes a shock damping system that has a pressure storage reservoir, a check valve in fluid communication with the pressure storage reservoir, and a needle valve in fluid communication with the pressure storage reservoir. The needle valve is in a parallel fluid-communication configuration with the check valve.
GAS SPRING CURVE CONTROL IN AN ADJUSTABLE VOLUME GAS PRESSURIZED DEVICE
A gas spring curve control valve for a adjustable-volume gas-pressurized device is described. The valve allows for selection from among at least four spring curves and can be packaged in small spaces/devices. In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, a rotary cam having grooves and lobes that interact with spring loaded ball bearings and an external adjuster knob are used to easily change the gas spring curve on-the-fly and with minimal user effort.
