The present device includes a mass body, a centrifugal element and a plurality of conversion mechanisms. The mass body is disposed to be rotatable with the rotor and be rotatable relative to the rotor. The centrifugal element is disposed to receive a centrifugal force to be generated by rotation of at least one of the rotor and the mass body. Each of the plurality of conversion mechanisms is configured to convert the centrifugal force into a circumferential force when a relative displacement is produced between the rotor and the mass body in a rotational direction. The circumferential force is directed to reduce the relative displacement. The respective plurality of conversion mechanisms are disposed at intervals in a circumferential direction.

An example flywheel energy storage device includes a continuously curved fiber-resin composite ovoid shell. Hubs are concentrically disposed within and outside the shell at the shaft. A plurality of radially oriented, fiber-resin composite helical wraps of uniform width are used to construct the ovoid shell and couple the shell to the hubs for co-rotation and torque transfer. Integrated internal structures are attached to the external ovoid shell and provide compression support for the external ovoid shell. Upon rotation, the ovoid shell elongates slightly to increase the flywheel effective moment of inertia at operational speeds.

Damper device

A drive member of a damper device includes a first input plate member and a second input plate member that rotatably support a plurality of pinion gears of a planetary gear of a rotary inertia mass damper. A driven member includes an outer teeth gear portion that meshes with the pinion gear in an outer circumferential portion thereof and is disposed between the first and the second input plate members in an axial direction so as to work as a sun gear of the planetary gear. A stopper is configured to restrict the relative rotation between the drive member and the driven member and includes a contact portion arranged in the outer circumferential portion of the driven member so as to contact with the first input plate member.

Variable moment flywheel

A method for storage of excess energy which would otherwise be lost, the regulation of angular velocity, and prevention of excessive velocities is disclosed. The device consists of a bowl shaped container, divided into sections by radially oriented vertical walls, which holds a fluid (any appropriate liquid or set of small solid particles), and spins on its vertically oriented axis at various angular velocities. The floor of the device is formed in successive shapes of bowls and shelves, which allows for a kind of “gearing”. The invention allows more and more energy to be input into the device while the angular velocity is regulated within a particular range. A typical embodiment of the invention would include its attachment by a shaft at the axis to a vertical axis wind turbine.

The present damper device includes a large hysteresis mechanism, generating a large hysteresis torque, and a hysteresis inhibiting mechanism. In a positive-side torsional region, when relative rotation is performed until reaching a maximum torsion angle from a neutral position, the hysteresis inhibiting mechanism deactivates the large hysteresis mechanism until the relative rotation reaches a first torsion angle from the neutral position, but activates the large hysteresis mechanism until the relative rotation reaches the maximum torsion angle from the first torsion angle; and when the relative rotation is performed until reaching the neutral position from the maximum torsion angle, the hysteresis inhibiting mechanism deactivates the large hysteresis mechanism until the relative rotation reaches a second torsion angle less than the first torsion angle from the maximum torsion angle, but activates the large hysteresis mechanism until the relative rotation reaches the neutral position from the second torsion angle.

A vibration absorber which, in addition to a main mass which is fixed thereto and moved along a curved trajectory by a driving mechanism, comprises a substantially smaller variably adjustable rotating flywheel mass which is moved together with the main mass along the trajectory thereof, enabling the adjustment of the frequency of the absorber. The rotating flywheel mass is driven by a novel belt device independently of the driving mechanism. A rotating vibration absorber which, along with the main mass and the rotating flywheel mass, comprises its own damping unit, such as an eddy-current damping unit.
