Composite shock strut cylinder with integral metallic lower bearing carrier and sleeve
A metallic liner includes a cylindrical body defining a wear resilient surface, and a bearing carrier extending radially inward from the wear resilient surface, wherein the wear resilient surface and the cylindrical body are formed as a monolithic piece.
LOAD ABSORBING MEMBER AND VEHICLE LOAD ABSORBING STRUCTURE
In a crash box, a first extending portion extends from a front end of a first body upper portion in a vehicle front-rear direction of a first body portion, and a second extending portion extends from a front end of a second body lower portion in a vehicle front-rear direction of a second body portion. When an impact load is transmitted to the front ends of the first body portion and the second body portion in the vehicle front-rear direction, a rotation moment toward the lower side of the vehicle acts on the first extending portion and a rotation moment toward the upper side of the vehicle acts on the second extending portion. This can suppress peeling between first and second left side bonded portions and between first and second right side bonded portions of the first body portion and the second body portion.
COIL SPRING AND METHOD OF FABRICATION THEREOF
A composite spring made of a wire of a longitudinal axis curved around a spring axis in a winding direction and a method of fabrication thereof, the spring, the wire comprising a core; and fibers layers wound around the core, and an angular positioning, relative to the spring axis, of each one of the fiber layers being selected, along a length of the core, depending on the winding direction of the wire about the spring axis, to adjust at least one of: high natural frequency of the spring, resistance to buckling and resistance to tensile and compressive stress components induced by a compressive load on the spring.
Adjustable stiffness cantilevered support
An oblong cantilevered support includes a pair of latitudinally spaced apart oblong resilient members connected by a pair of longitudinally spaced apart blocks. The longitudinal spacing between the blocks can be adjusted. One or both of the members can have a tapered profile causing the stiffness of the member to vary along its length. Adjusting the spacing between the blocks and/or sliding a variable stiffness member longitudinally with respect to the blocks can adjust the stiffness of the overall support. Each member can be made from a unitary piece of fiber composite material such as a carbon fiber infused polymer wherein the orientations of the fibers are varied to provide both bending and torsional strength and stiffness that varies along the length of the member. The tapered geometry can be formed by a pair of parallely spaced apart oblique trapezoidal truncated pyramids interconnected by a webbing strip.
LEAF SPRING
A leaf spring may include: an upper plate provided with arc-shaped portions which are integrally formed on both end portions thereof, respectively, for forming spring eyes; a lower plate disposed to overlap a lower side of the upper plate and provided with arc-shaped portions which are integrally formed on both end portions thereof, respectively, and face the arc-shaped portions of the upper plate to form the spring eyes; clamping units installed to restrain the both end portions of the overlapped upper and lower plates from being separated from each other; and a central fastening unit configured to fasten central portions of the overlapped upper and lower plates.
SLIDING MEMBER AND BEARING
A sliding member includes a metallic substrate, a porous layer formed on a surface of the metallic substrate and a sliding layer that covers the porous layer. The porous layer is made of a metal itself or an alloy composition. The sliding layer is made of a lead-free resin composition. The resin composition consists of a pitch-based carbon fiber and a fluororesin, and assuming weight of the resin composition as 100, more than 10 weight % and 35 weight % or less of the pitch-based carbon fiber is contained.
HIGH SPEED FLYWHEEL
This invention relates to a flywheel and method of manufacture thereof wherein the flywheel is capable of operation at very high rotational speed without precise balancing.
Method of making carbon fiber wave spring
A method of making a carbon fiber wave spring includes forming a disc-shaped ring from prepreg carbon fibers. The disc-shaped ring is then formed into a desired wave shape. The disc-shaped ring in the wave shape is then cured to form a wave spring.
TORSIONAL VIBRATION DAMPER
A torsional vibration damper includes an input part for introducing a torque, a first cam mechanism, an intermediate element, a compression spring engaged with the intermediate element, a second cam mechanism for discharging a vibration-damped torque, and a frictional element for friction damping. The intermediate element is coupled to the input part via the first cam mechanism such that a relative rotation between the input part and the intermediate element is converted into a linear movement of the intermediate element radially inward or radially outward. The output part is coupled to the intermediate element via the second cam mechanism such that a linear movement of the intermediate element is converted into a relative rotation between the output part and the intermediate element. The frictional element is pressed against the intermediate element or the output part. The frictional element may be movement-coupled to the intermediate element or the output part.
SHOCK ABSORBING MEMBER
A shock absorbing member is provided having a sequential destruction capability and protection against electrolytic corrosion on fastening-fixing portions thereof to be fastened to a bumper reinforcement or a vehicle body. Embodiments include a shock absorbing member between a bumper reinforcement and a vehicle body, including a distal end portion fastened to the bumper reinforcement; a base end flange portion fastened to the vehicle body; and an absorbing member body extending in a vehicle front-rear direction and connecting the distal end portion and the base end flange portion. The absorbing member body includes a carbon fiber-glass reinforced plastic layer. Fastening-fixing portions of the distal end portion and the base end flange portion are composed of glass fiber reinforced plastic layers.
