Transmission belt manufacturing method and transmission belt

A method of manufacturing a power transmission belt includes: molding and vulcanizing an endless tension member layer in which a cord extending in a belt length direction is embedded; molding and vulcanizing a rubber member for a compressed rubber layer; and bonding together the tension member layer that has been vulcanized and the rubber member, that has been vulcanized, for the compressed rubber layer.

A drive belt having a main body formed of an elastomeric material, preferably a v-belt or v-ribbed belt, the drive belt including a top layer as belt backing, a power transmission zone having two or more tensile strands as strength members, and also a substructure optionally provided with some profiling preferably having a v-shape or a v-rib profile. The strength members are formed of cords made of mutually twisted plies (final twist), the plies being in turn twisted out of individual yarns (first twist). The cords consist essentially of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and of two plies, the number of turns introduced into the plies twisted into a cord (final twist) and the number of turns introduced into the yarns twisted into a ply (first twist) differing by not more than 10 turns per meter (t/m).

Belt Drive and Method for Monitoring Such a Belt Drive
20180128352 · 2018-05-10 ·

The invention provides a belt drive and a method for the monitoring thereof, which allows conclusions to be drawn regarding loads to which the belt has been subjected over its past usage period. The method including a rotatably mounted disc and a belt which is deflected at the disc, wherein the belt and the disc are equipped with a marking and are positioned with respect to each other such that the markings are directly opposite each other in a trigger position when the belt circulates around the disc, wherein: a) the trigger position is recorded by means of a monitoring device, which emits a signal when the markings are located in the trigger position; b) the number of signals triggered over a period is recorded; and c) the loads to which the belt or the disc have been subjected during the time period is determined while taking into consideration relevant influencing variables.

Helical tooth belt and belt transmission

The present invention relates to a helical toothed belt including: a back portion; a tension member buried in the back portion; and a plurality of tooth portions arranged at a predetermined interval along a belt longitudinal direction on one surface of the back portion, in which the plurality of tooth portions have a tooth pitch of 1.5 mm or more and less than 2.0 mm, the back portion has a thickness of 0.4 mm or more and 1.2 mm or less, the tension member is formed of a twisted cord containing a high-strength glass fiber or a carbon fiber, and the ratio of the total value of an interval between the tension members adjacent to each other to the belt width is 20% or more and 60% or less.

CVT belt

An endless rubber power transmission belt such as a CVT belt having a main belt body with a compression portion, tension portion, an adhesion portion, and a tensile cord in contact with the adhesion portion and embedded between the compression portion and the tension portion, angled sides, and a width to thickness ratio on the order of 2 to 3. At least one of the compression portion, the tension portion and the adhesion portion has an elastomer composition that includes a saturated ethylene-alpha-olefin elastomer, a staple fiber, and a pulp fiber, or an elastomer, a high-modulus staple fiber, and a high-modulus pulp fiber. The pulp fiber constitutes less than 40% of the total high-modulus fiber amount.

BELT AND PULLEY SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF DETECTING BELT DAMAGE

A system and method capable of detecting damage in a belt before catastrophic failure of the belt occurs. The system includes a belt having at least a first conductive component and/or at least a first dielectric component, and one or more pulleys to which the belt is mounted. At least a first of the pulleys has at least one conductive component that, in combination with the first conductive component or the first dielectric component of the belt, defines an electrical element. At least a portion of the electrical element is located within the belt so as to be physically responsive to transitory and permanent distortions of the belt resulting from extrinsic and/or intrinsic sources. Electrical potential is applied through the electrical element so as to generate an electrical signal from the electrical element corresponding to a physical response of the belt to a transitory and/or permanent distortion.
