A method of forming a belt for an elevator system includes forming a plurality of tension members and encapsulating the plurality of tension members in a jacket. The jacket includes a base material layer and a coating layer formed from the self-extinguishing fluoroelastomer material.

At least one tensile reinforcement member is at least partially encased in the polymeric body and extends along the interior surface of the fabric C layer at each land portion throughout a loop formed by the belt. A conductive strand is at least partially encased in the polymeric body and extends along the interior surface of the fabric layer at each land portion.

The belt can include a bending stiffness in the range of from about 30 N/mm to about 65 N/mm and an anisotropic modulus of elasticity ratio of between 1.1 and 5.0. Methods of manufacturing the high efficiency belt are also described and can include forming sheets of rib material with parallel aligned reinforcement fibers transverse to the direction of rotation of the high efficiency belt.

Toothed belt

A cord of a toothed belt is made of a twisted yarn including a band-like material. The band-like material includes a filament bundle of high-strength glass fibers integrated together through a binder. The binder contains a rubber component, at least either a maleimide-based compound or a polyisocyanate compound, and a powdery inorganic filler. A surface of a reinforcing fabric facing opposite to the toothed belt body is coated with a surface-coating rubber layer made of a rubber composition containing a rubber component including hydrogenated nitrile-butadiene rubber as a main part.
