Inspectable synthetic tensile member assembly
11486465 · 2022-11-01 · ·

A protected synthetic tensile member assembly including one or more fixed terminations used to transmit a tensile load from the tensile member to an external component. The tensile member includes access for inspection of its constituent fibers in at least one selected inspection region. The region is selected on the basis of the area of interest to the tensile member's use—such as the area of greatest stress concentration, the area of greatest abrasion, or an area of likely strand-to strand or overall cable translation. A removable cover is provided for the inspection region. A user may selectively remove this cover in order to gain access to the inspection region.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ATTACHING A SLEEVE TO A WIRE END

Apparatus for attaching a sleeve comprising a coupling end to a steel wire. The apparatus comprises a pulling end arranged to connect to a sleeve to be attached to a steel wire, a pulling arrangement connected to the pulling end and being configured to pull a sleeve connected to the pulling end, a swaging arrangement comprising two opposed swaging rolls adapted to crimp the sleeve to a close press fit around a loose end of a steel wire. The apparatus further comprises a testing arrangement for testing the strain capacity of the attachment of a sleeve to a steel wire, the testing arrangement including a holding unit configured to effectively hold a portion of the steel wire fixed and allowing the pulling arrangement to pull the sleeve attached to a wire held fixed in the holding unit in order to verify the attachment.

Intelligent Fiber Rope Termination
20170299450 · 2017-10-19 ·

A cable termination including an integral instrument package providing intelligence. The instrument package may assume many forms and may serve many purposes. In a preferred embodiment, the termination includes a position-determining system and an on-board processor. The processor determines a current location in space for the termination based on the information it is receiving. This positional information may then be transmitted to an external receiver. In the scenario where the termination is attached to a payload, the positional information may be used by an external positioning device (such as a crane) to control the motion of the termination and thereby place the payload in a desired position. The termination also preferably includes load-monitoring and recording features. The termination may also carry one or more ROV's/AUV's.

Mechanism for securing device

The present application generally relates to attaching a device to a conveyance structure.

SOFT ATTACHMENT DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE
20210403134 · 2021-12-30 ·

The invention relates to a soft attachment for anchoring on a surface including a wall, deck of a boat or spar of a boat and a method of connecting the soft attachment to a surface. The soft attachment comprises: a hollow shank having a first end port, a second end port, an inner surface and a threaded outer surface, a flange located adjacent the first end port of the shank, and at least one flexible elongate member having a first portion located adjacent the inner surface of the hollow shank, and a second portion projecting from said first end port for use as an anchoring point for attachment of rigging.

Method of Terminating a Stranded Synthetic Filament Cable

An apparatus and method for terminating a multi-stranded, non-parallel cable. An anchor is provided on the end of each strand. A collector is provided to link the anchors and connected strands into a single unit. An alignment fixture is provided to transition the strands from the non-parallel lay within the cable to a parallel path adjacent to the anchors.

Advanced fiber rope boom pendant technologies for heavy equipment

A method and hardware for damping and controlling unwanted motion in the fixed rigging of large machines. In a first approach large clamp blocks are added to multi-cable rigging systems. These blocks use a first cable to damp the motion of an adjacent cable. The invention also encompasses adding armored sections to synthetic cables to enhance their abrasion resistance and cut resistance.

Low-PIM rod receiver angle adapters and cable hanger assemblies

A low passive intermodulation (PIM) angle adapter fabricated from or coated with a polymeric material supports one or more cable support hangers. The low-PIM angle adapter includes a box frame integrally formed with a slot frame, where the box frame supports one or more cable hangers and the slot frame slides onto a support structure to position the angle adapter on the support structure. The low-PIM angle adapter also includes one or more cable tie slots the receive cable ties that secure the angle adapter to the support structure. Various embodiments include differently shaped box frames designed to support one or more cable hangers, such hex, rectangular, trapezoidal and square box frames. The box frames may include multiple receptacles for receiving multiple cable hangers. Cable blocks and brackets also may be used to connect multiple cable hangers to a single receptacle of the low-PIM angle adapter.

Method of Inspecting & Monitoring a Fiber Termination
20230258740 · 2023-08-17 ·

A system for monitoring the performance of a multi-stranded tensile member where a portion of the strands are concealed within a termination. The invention provides a monitoring system that allows the user to determine when one or more of the strands has degraded to a point of concern. In some embodiments the monitoring system depends on visual inspection and in other embodiments the monitoring system is automated.

Anchor sleeve and anchor system

The invention is directed to an anchor sleeve (100) for an anchor system (1) suited for anchoring of a composite tension member (300). The anchor sleeve (100) comprises a sleeve base body (101) that has a receiving opening (105) configured to receive an anchor body (200) and extending from a sleeve front opening (121) arranged at a sleeve front end (120) to a sleeve rear opening (131) arranged at a sleeve rear end (130). The sleeve base body (101) is at least partially made from a fiber-reinforced plastic comprising reinforcing fibers whereof at least a portion is wound about the receiving opening (105).
