Controlled Translation Method of Affixing a Termination to a Tensile Member
A method for creating a termination by attaching some kind of fitting to the end of a tensile member such as a cable. The end fitting is provided with an internal cavity. The cavity has a proximal portion that is adjacent the area where the tensile member exits the fitting and a distal portion on its opposite end. A length of the tensile member's filaments is placed within this expanding cavity and infused with liquid potting compound. The method exploits the characteristic of a liquid potting compound as it transitions to a solid. The potting compound in one portion of the cavity is typically transitioned to a solid at a more rapid rate than other portions. Once the potting compound in one portion of the cavity has transitioned sufficiently to hold the filaments at the desired level, tension is placed on the tensile member and a small linear displacement may be imposed on the tensile member. This linear displacement tends to pull the filaments residing in the potting compound into better alignment and improve load sharing.
Termination of strength members of deep water cables
A method for terminating a cable (6) having at least one strength member (7). The method includes the steps of providing a cable termination comprising at least one termination chamber (2) for accommodating an end section of the strength member (7) and arranging and fastening an anchoring sleeve (12) around at least parts of the end section. The method further includes introducing the end section into the termination chamber (2) and fastening the end section by curing a polymer resin in the termination chamber (2) as well as a termination suitable for the method.

Hollow-braided rope having a rope termination formed therein and a rope termination forming system for forming the rope termination
Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide a hollow-braided rope having a new and improved rope termination formed therein and a new and improved rope termination system for forming the rope termination. Generally, the rope termination of the present disclosure is formed using a double-braided portion of hollow-braided rope in conjunction with a set of mechanical components of the rope termination forming system. The use of both the double-braided portion of the hollow-braided rope and the set of mechanical components causes any applied tensile forces to be distributed between the double-braided portion and the mechanical components. The distribution of part of any applied tensile forces away from the mechanical components and to the double-braided portion of the hollow-braided rope itself enables the mechanical components to be relatively small and lightweight and reduces the size and weight of the rope termination without compromising strength.
Rope end-fastening method, rope with end fastener, and end fitting for use in rope end-fastening method
A rope terminal fixing method is provided, which may be used easily at a construction site, causes less shearing load, and may reliably prevent the falling-off of the rope. The rope terminal fixing method comprises the following steps. A tubular terminal metal fitting which comprises a proximal opening, a distal opening, and a through hole communicating the proximal and distal openings is prepared. A terminal of a rope is inserted through the proximal opening into the through hole, a portion of the terminal of the rope extended from the distal opening is loosened, and a diameter-enlarging member is fixed to a core wire of the rope. Then, the terminal of the rope is brought back into the through hole. A fixed width portion extending in an axial direction of the terminal metal fitting is pressed from the outside in a circumferential direction by swaging, such that a protrusion constraining the rope so as to reduce its diameter is formed in the through hole. The diameter-enlarging member cooperates with an end of the protrusion located on the distal opening side to constrain surrounding wires other than the core wire in a sandwiching manner. A rope with terminal fixing tools, which comprises the terminal fixing tools attached thereto by this method, is also provided.

Cable termination method and apparatus
A cable termination system and method include providing an outer socket having a frustum shaped socket interior tapering from a base to a top opening. The outer socket is comprised of two semicircular socket pieces, each forming a portion of a complete circumference of the outer socket. A plurality of elongate cable strands extend through the socket interior with individual strands circumferentially spaced to form a single layer of strands at the base opening. A frustoconical inner plug is inserted into the socket by a compressive force exceeding a maximum tensile force of the stranded cable for holding the cable in the socket without slippage when a tensile force is applied between the cable and the outer socket. The inner plug includes a plurality of longitudinally extending, laterally separate plug subassemblies.
Coupler for Stranded Rope
A coupler may be provided. The coupler may comprise a first cylindrical cavity, a first truncated conical cavity, and a second truncated conical cavity. The first truncated conical cavity may be adjacent to and concentric with the first cylindrical cavity. The first truncated conical cavity may have a first angle. The second truncated conical cavity may be adjacent to and concentric with the first truncated conical cavity. The second truncated conical cavity may have a second angle less than the first angle.

SYNTHETIC ROPE SOCKET
A device and method for the end termination of a braided synthetic rope, with a tapered wedge seated inside a wedge socket free of sharp edges, with a screw-on cap at the top of the wedge socket with an eye for attachment for connecting links, slots in the wedge for receiving unbraided individual strands of a braided synthetic rope. In addition, the device includes a spring and a steel plunger to be inserted in the screw-on cap to assist in holding the wedge securely in place once it is installed in the wedge socket. Rounded edges at the bottom of the wedge socket help protect the braided synthetic rope from abrasion and cutting while in service. The device is intended to create a safe and efficient manner to connect objects in the mooring industry such other synthetic mooring lines, anchor chains, and wire ropes.
