A power conversion device in the form of a compressor drive constitutes a three channel power sharing transmission which allows power input and/or output from shafts on two of the channels along with hydraulic, electric or potentially pneumatic power input and/or output from the third channel. Varying the input and/or output of hydraulic, electric or pneumatic flow provides a continuously variable transmission function. Several embodiments of the power conversion device are described to drive a supercharger for an internal combustion engine providing a variable ratio coupling allowing effective use of a centrifugal type compressor across a broad range of operational engine speeds.

A control system for implementing nonlinear interference compensation for a torsion angle of an astronomical telescope is provided. The system includes a torsion angle detection system and a torsion angle compensation and amendment system. The torsion angle detection system is provided with a measurement mechanism for measuring the position of a driving wheel, and a position signal of the measurement mechanism is fed back to an industrial personal computer in the torsion angle compensation and amendment system in real time. An output signal of the industrial personal computer controls a compensation motor to rotate, and the compensation motor inclines an elastic plate with the driving wheel mounted thereon through a transmission mechanism, to further cause the torsion of the driving wheel by an angle and form compensation to the torsion angle.

A control system for implementing nonlinear interference compensation for a torsion angle of an astronomical telescope is provided. The system includes a torsion angle detection system and a torsion angle compensation and amendment system. The torsion angle detection system is provided with a measurement mechanism for measuring the position of a driving wheel, and a position signal of the measurement mechanism is fed back to an industrial personal computer in the torsion angle compensation and amendment system in real time. An output signal of the industrial personal computer controls a compensation motor to rotate, and the compensation motor inclines an elastic plate with the driving wheel mounted thereon through a transmission mechanism, to further cause the torsion of the driving wheel by an angle and form compensation to the torsion angle.

A variator is disclosed comprising first and second races disposed for rotation about a variator axis, at least one rolling element disposed in a cavity between the races. In a drive configuration, drive is transmitted between the races and the or each rolling element; and in a neutral configuration, the or each rolling element and races are configured whereby the races can move independently of one another. In a method of operating the variator, the neutral configuration is obtained by moving the or each rolling element to a position in which it ceases to make contact with at least one of the races. The drive configuration is obtained by moving the or each rolling element to a position in which it makes contact with both of the races.
