TORQUE CONVERTER WITH A COVER HAVING RECESSED FLEXPLATE CONNECTION
A torque converter, including: an axis of rotation; a cover arranged to receive torque from an engine; an impeller shell fixedly secured to the cover; at least one impeller blade fixedly secured to the impeller shell; a turbine including a turbine shell and at least one turbine blade fixedly secured to the turbine shell; and an output arranged to non-rotatably connect to an input shaft for a transmission. The cover includes a plurality of indentations and a respective fastener located in each indentation and fixedly secured to the cover.
Impeller shell with grooves for increased flow area
An impeller for a motor vehicle torque converter is provided. The impeller includes an impeller shell including blade supporting portions and fluid flow receiving portions between the blade supporting portions, the blade supporting portions being thicker than the fluid flow receiving portions; and a plurality of impeller blades, each of the impeller blades being connected to one of the blade supporting portions at an inner surface of the impeller shell. A method for forming an impeller of a torque converter is also provided.
Drive Train Device for a Motor Vehicle
A drive train device for a motor vehicle is disclosed. The drive train device has at least one component which is included for the purpose of transmitting a torque, and at least one cast-in element which is partially cast into the component, which is included for the purpose of transmitting the torque, where the component and the cast-in element are made of different materials. The drive train device has a sealing device which is included for the purpose of sealing a junction between the component and the cast-in element.
TORQUE CONVERTER INCLUDING HOUSING SHELLS PRESS FIT TOGETHER
A torque converter includes a housing; and a turbine, impeller blades and a stator within the housing. The impeller blades are configured for directing fluid to the turbine and, the stator is configured for redirect fluid from the turbine back to the impeller. The housing includes a first shell and a second shell joined together. The first shell or the second shell supports the impeller blades. The first shell includes a first tubular end section and the second shell including a second tubular end section. The first tubular end section is received within the second tubular end section. The first tubular end section includes a base circumferential surface and a protrusion protruding from the base circumferential surface. The protrusion engages a circumferential surface of the second tubular end section to form a press fit connection between the first shell and the second shell.
