A torque converter assembly includes a pump and a turbine fluidly connected together. A vehicle includes the assembly operable between an output shaft of an engine and an input member of a transmission. The assembly includes a damper and a clutch operable between the pump and the turbine. The damper is operable upstream from the clutch such that oscillation from the pump is reduced by the damper before oscillation reaches the clutch. The clutch includes first and second plates and a friction plate disposed between the first and second plates. The assembly includes a casing that contains the pump, the turbine, the damper and the clutch. A first part of the casing and the first plate define a first chamber. A first part of the turbine and the second plate define a second chamber. The clutch between the first and second plates defines a third chamber.

A hybrid module configured for arrangement in the torque path upstream from a transmission and downstream from an internal combustion engine includes an electric motor including a stator and a rotor rotatable within the stator, and a torque converter including a cover, an impeller and a turbine. The cover includes a pump drive configured for driving a fluid pump of the transmission. The torque converter includes a bypass clutch configured for frictionally drivingly connecting the cover to the impeller in an engaged orientation and for frictionally drivingly disconnecting the cover from the impeller in a disengaged orientation, the cover being non-rotatably fixed to rotor. The hybrid module also includes a connect/disconnect clutch having a clutch output non-rotatably fixed to the rotor. The connect/disconnect clutch is configured for being actuated between an engaged orientation for drivingly connecting the internal combustion engine to the cover of the torque converter and a disengaged orientation for drivingly disconnecting the internal combustion engine from the cover of the torque converter. The hybrid module is configured for transmitting torque from the internal combustion engine to the pump drive without driving the impeller when the connect/disconnect clutch is in the engaged orientation and the bypass clutch is in the disengaged orientation.

A torsional vibration damper comprises an axially movable locking piston including a piston plate, a torque input member including a cover plate, a support plate disposed axially opposite the cover plate and a supporting member mounted to both the cover and support plates, and a unitary radially elastic output member pivotable relative to and elastically coupled to the torque input member. The output member is disposed axially between the cover plate and the piston plate. The output member includes an output hub and a curved elastic blade configured to elastically and radially engage the supporting member and to elastically bend in the radial direction upon rotation of the cover plate with respect to the output member. The cover plate at least partially covers an axially first outer surface of the output member. The support plate partially covers an axially second outer surface of the output member.

A thrust washer is provided. The thrust washer includes an annular base including a radially extending thrust surface, a further radially extending surface on an opposite side of the annular base from the radially extending thrust surface, an outer circumferential surface extending axially from the radially extending thrust surface to the further radially extending surface and an inner circumferential surface extending axially from the radially extending thrust surface to the further radially extending surface. The thrust washer also includes radially extending connectors extending radially outward from the annular base. A motor vehicle drivetrain assembly, a torque converter and a method of connecting a thrust washer to a component are also provided.

A torque converter may include: an impeller and a turbine hub to form a chamber together, a damper piston connected to a damper clutch and divide the chamber into a damper chamber and a balance chamber, a discharge path to connect and block the balance chamber and control an internal flow rate of the torque converter, and an O-ring to open or close the discharge path.

A power transmission device is disclosed. The device includes a first rotating member, a second rotating member rotating relative to the first rotating member, and a torque transmission portion. The torque transmission portion is provided on the first rotating member and transmits torque from one of the first and second rotating members to the other via a hydraulic fluid. The torque transmission portion includes an oil chamber portion filled with the hydraulic fluid, a first piston pressing the second rotating member, a second piston retaining the hydraulic fluid in the oil chamber portion with the first piston, and an elastic portion elastically holding the second piston. The first piston receives pressure of the hydraulic fluid on a first pressure receiving area. The second piston receives pressure of the hydraulic fluid on a second pressure receiving area. The first pressure receiving area is smaller than the second pressure receiving area.

A torque converter includes a housing, and a fluid-operated power transmitting portion and a vibration damping device which are accommodated within the housing and which are disposed around an axis such that the vibration damping device is located adjacent to the fluid-operated power transmitting portion in a direction of the axis, the torque converter further includes a space occupying member which occupies a part of a space formed within the housing and between the fluid-operated power transmitting portion and the vibration damping device. The space occupying member comprises a wall surface facing the fluid-operated power transmitting portion in the direction of the axis. A distance in the direction of the axis between a part of the wall surface and the fluid-operated power transmitting portion is smaller than a distance in the direction of the axis between the part of the wall surface and the vibration damping device.

A powertrain system includes a flex plate, a transmission input shaft, a torque coupling, a one-way clutch, and a damper assembly. The flex plate is configured to be connected to a crankshaft of an engine. The torque coupling connects the transmission input shaft to the flex plate while allowing slip between the transmission input shaft and the flex plate. The one-way clutch is configured to couple the flex plate to the torque coupling. The damper assembly couples the flex plate to the one-way clutch and is configured to inhibit vibration transmission from the flex plate to the one-way clutch.
