Device for transmitting a rotation movement
A device for transmitting a rotation movement includes first and second force transmission sections, each with a drive input and a drive output, and with a first chain guide. The chain guide is arranged between the drive input and output and accommodates an endless chain, which circulates between the drive input and drive output. A middle force transmission section with a middle drive input and a middle drive output, and with a conduit that is arranged between these. The conduit accommodates a hydraulic fluid and transmits forces between the first and the second force transmission section. The hydraulic fluid circulates between the middle drive input and the middle drive output and transmits push forces between the middle drive input and the middle drive output. The first drive output is coupled to the middle drive input, and the middle drive output is coupled to the second drive input.
Power conversion device
A power conversion device in the form of a compressor drive constitutes a three channel power sharing transmission which allows power input and/or output from shafts on two of the channels along with hydraulic, electric or potentially pneumatic power input and/or output from the third channel. Varying the input and/or output of hydraulic, electric or pneumatic flow provides a continuously variable transmission function. Several embodiments of the power conversion device are described to drive a supercharger for an internal combustion engine providing a variable ratio coupling allowing effective use of a centrifugal type compressor across a broad range of operational engine speeds.
HYBRID DRIVETRAIN
A geartrain for a powertrain system is disposed to transfer mechanical power between an internal combustion engine, an electric machine and a driveline. The geartrain includes a flywheel, a torque converter, an off-axis mechanical connection and a transmission gearbox. The off-axis mechanical connection includes a first element rotatably coupled to a second element. The flywheel is coupled to a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine. The torque converter includes a pump, a turbine and a pump hub, and the transmission gearbox includes an input member. The pump of the torque converter is coupled to the flywheel, and the pump hub is coupled to the first element of the off-axis mechanical connection. The second element of the off-axis mechanical connection is coupled to a rotor of the electric machine, and the turbine of the torque converter is coupled to the input member of the transmission gearbox.
THRUST ABSORBING PLANETARY TRACTION DRIVE SUPERTURBO
Disclosed are embodiments of thrust absorbing planetary traction drives that utilize roller-shaft traction interfaces that are slanted to absorb thrust created on a turbo shaft by a turbine or compressor. Slanted traction surfaces on the sun portion of the turbo shaft are slanted inwardly so that the turbo shaft remains centered in the planetary traction drive. Either double roller planets or single roller planets can be used to absorb thrust in the axial direction of the turbo shaft. Various curved and slanted surfaces can be utilized to create traction interfaces that hold and stabilize the turbo shaft both axially and radially.

One mode continuously variable transmission
A powertrain for a motor vehicle includes a one mode continuously variable transmission (CVT) and a torque converter connected to a planetary gear set assembly which is connected to a pulley and a chain assembly or other continuously variable unit (CVU). The planetary gear set arrangement generally includes one planetary gear set, one brake and one clutch. The CVU is connected to a final drive unit. The sheaves of the CVU have an involute spline connection.
Viscous clutch with return bore through rotor
A viscous clutch (20) includes a housing assembly (28), a rotor assembly (26), a reservoir (38) to hold a supply of a shear fluid, a working chamber (40) operatively positioned between the housing assembly and the rotor assembly, and a fluid return bore (26-1B) that optionally extends radially through at least an outer diameter portion of the rotor assembly to the working chamber. Selective introduction of the shear fluid to the working chamber facilitates selective torque transmission between the housing assembly and the rotor assembly. The fluid return bore can form at least a portion of a fluid return path (50) from the working chamber to the reservoir.
