A differential gear mechanism configured for use with a transaxle housing includes a limited-slip differential assembly including a differential casing defining first and second output shaft openings that receive respective first and second axle shafts. A piston is slidably disposed in the differential casing and configured to actuate a clutch assembly. A bolt-on plenum assembly is configured to bolt onto the transaxle housing and includes a plenum assembly housing, a hydraulic coupling and a motor. The plenum assembly housing defines an axle opening configured to receive one of the first and second axle shafts therethrough. The hydraulic coupling can be arranged on the plenum assembly housing at the axle opening. The motor can be mounted on the plenum assembly housing at the axle opening and be configured to pump hydraulic fluid from the bolt-on plenum assembly, through the hydraulic coupling and into the differential casing to act onto the piston.

Transfer case with oil distribution
10302186 · 2019-05-28 · ·

A transfer case comprises a primary output shaft, a secondary output shaft, a clutch, and a plurality of valves. The primary output shaft includes a hub rotationally coupled thereto. The clutch selectively couples the primary output shaft to the secondary output shaft to transfer torque therebetween. The clutch includes a housing, interleaved plates, and an apply plate. The housing is rotationally coupled to the secondary output shaft. The interleaved plates alternate between a first subset of the interleaved plates rotationally coupled to the hub and a second subset of the interleaved plates rotationally coupled to the housing. The apply plate compresses the interleaved plates for transferring torque between the hub and the housing. The valves selectively release oil supplied through the primary output shaft into the housing. Each valve includes a bore formed in the hub and a valve rod movable by the apply plate to open the valve.

A cap for a helical LSD is provided with: a clutch member including clutch teeth; a clutch ring including a ring portion including clutch teeth so as to mesh with the clutch member and one or more tab portions projecting radially outwardly from the ring portion; a cap main body fixed on an axial end of the casing; a receding portion of the cap main body receding from a first face toward a second face and being so dimensioned as to receive and allow the clutch ring to be axially movable, the receding portion including one or more dock portions respectively receiving the tab portions; an opening to allow access to the tab portions; side faces of the tab portions and inner faces of the dog portions so that the faces in combination axially press the clutch ring toward the clutch member; and one or more base portions.

Method for operating a multi-axle drive train for a motor vehicle, and corresponding multi-axle drive train

A device and a method for operating a multi-axle drive train for a motor vehicle. A first axle and a second axle are operatively connected, at least temporarily, to a drive device. When the second axle is decoupled from the drive device and a request for multi-axle drive with a first value is present, the second axle is coupled to the drive device only when a noise-masking event occurs, or when the second axle is coupled to the drive device and the request for multi-axle drive is absent, the second axle is decoupled from the drive device only when the noise-masking event occurs.

SWITCHABLE ONE-WAY CLUTCH

A switchable one-way clutch is able to switch between operating as a one-way clutch and a clutch that locks in both directions. The clutch includes an inner race, and an outer race that includes an inner surface with a plurality of ramped profiles. A control plate is located radially outward from the inner race and moveable in an axial direction relative to the outer race. A plurality of rollers are contactable with the outer and inner races. A roller cage is configured to position and contain the plurality of rollers. A hydraulic piston is coupled to an actuator arm, such that movement of the piston along the axis moves the actuator arm along the axis. To switch and engage the clutch such that rotation is locked in both directions, the piston and actuator arm move axially to hold the control plate and attached roller cage against rotation.
