The actuator includes an output shaft that is rotated, a planetary gear set that forms an overlapping section coaxially with the output shaft, and a motor that is coupled to the overlapping section of the planetary gear set. A sensing controller detects a rotation angle of the output shaft. The output shaft passes an actuator housing and the planetary gear set, the motor, and the sensing controller are arranged in series, thus minimizing a package. Additionally, the actuator is applied as the power source of a CVVD system to improve mountability to a complex engine room due to the space occupancy minimization.

A gearbox assembly for an electric power assisted steering apparatus includes a gearbox housing, a worm shaft, a main bearing assembly, and a first fulcrum means. The worm shaft may be supported relative to the housing by a main bearing assembly at an end closest to the motor. The main bearing assembly may include an inner ring defining an inner bearing race, an outer ring defining an outer bearing race, and a plurality of bearings that run between the two races. The first fulcrum means may be located on a first side of the main bearing assembly which reacts only the axial component of the wormshaft tooth load for a first direction of gearwheel torque. A second fulcrum means may be located on a second, opposing, side of the main bearing assembly, which reacts only the axial component of the wormshaft tooth load for the second direction of gearwheel torque.

Vehicle drive apparatus

A transmission mechanism is provided with an output gear drivingly coupled to at least one of a pair of output members and placed coaxially with the pair of output members. A direction in which a rotating electrical machine and an inverter device are arranged side by side in an axial view is defined as a first direction. A direction perpendicular to both an axial direction and the first direction is defined as a second direction. A first output member that is one of the pair of output members is placed between the rotating electrical machine and the inverter device in the first direction, at a position in the second direction where both the rotating electrical machine and the inverter device are placed. The output gear is placed in such a manner as to overlap each of the rotating electrical machine and the inverter device in the axial view.

Multi-speed transmission system and operating method

Methods and systems are provided for a multi-speed transmission. The multi-speed transmission includes a housing, an electric motor with a stator and a rotor positioned within the housing, and a planetary assembly positioned on a first axial side of the electric motor. The transmission further includes a first and second clutch unit spaced away from one another, each including a synchronizer, and designed to selectively rotationally couple to the rotor and to rotationally couple the rotor to different gears in the planetary assembly and where the electric motor and planetary assembly are coaxially arranged.

A drive includes a housing, an adapter plate, and a cover hood. A flat support surface is provided on the housing, e.g., for placement of the cover hood, and the adapter plate is attached to the housing. A first sealing ring, e.g., an O-ring, is received on the outer circumference of the adapter plate and is arranged between the cover hood and the cover plate, e.g., for sealing. A second sealing ring, e.g., an O-ring or a flat sealing ring, is received and/or attached to the side of the adapter plate facing the support surface, and the second sealing ring is arranged between the adapter plate and the support surface, e.g., for sealing.

A drive apparatus for a vehicle having an electric machine whose rotor shaft is constructed as a hollow shaft having an internal tooth arrangement. A gear mechanism drive shaft, which has an external tooth arrangement, is inserted coaxially relative to the hollow shaft into the hollow shaft, to form a torque-transmitting spline. The rotor shaft with a rotor shaft rotary bearing being interposed is guided outward through a bearing opening of an electric machine housing, and the gear mechanism drive shaft has a centering seat which is in abutment with the internal circumference of the rotor shaft with a tight clearance fit. The gear mechanism drive shaft is subjected to bending (D) during travel operation as a result of radially active operating forces (F.sub.R). To reduce the bending stress (D), the centering seat of the gear mechanism drive shaft is arranged without an axial offset with respect to the rotor shaft rotary bearing, in axial alignment relative to the rotor shaft rotary bearing.
