OIL LIFE OF OIL IN A GEARBOX OF AN AIR TURBINE STARTER
A system and method for predicting a remaining oil life of oil in a gearbox of an air turbine starter of a vehicle. The method includes generating a temperature data, generating an environmental data set by an environmental sensor, predicting a remaining oil life based on the temperature data set and the environmental data set and scheduling a maintenance event in response to the prediction of the remaining oil life.

A cause identifying device performs: determining that an operation of a transmission with a predetermined high load is a cause of oil temperature of hydraulic oil having been equal to or higher than the predetermined temperature when predetermined conditions that the transmission has operated with the predetermined high load in a target period immediately before the oil temperature of the hydraulic oil has been equal to or higher than the predetermined temperature and a vehicle acceleration in the target period has been equal to or higher than a predetermined acceleration value are satisfied; and determining that occurrence of a predetermined abnormality associated with a gear shifting device is the cause of the oil temperature of the hydraulic oil having been equal to or higher than the predetermined temperature when the predetermined conditions are not satisfied.

A sensor relating to the present invention includes: a first electrode; a second electrode; a first attracting portion positioned between the first electrode and the second electrode and configured to receive conductive abrasion powder contained in a detection region and attracted onto the first attracting portion; a sensing unit for sensing a change in electrical resistance between the first electrode and the second electrode caused by the conductive abrasion powder; and at least one second attracting portion positioned within the detection region and configured to attract the conductive abrasion powder contained in the detection region.

Gearbox temperature measurement device
A transmission in combination with a temperature measurement device and a device exterior to the transmission. The transmission includes a rotatable housing which drives a wheel of a vehicle, a wireless transceiver in communication with a thermistor embedded within molding, a battery embedded within the molding, and the molding resides within the housing. The temperature measurement device resides in a wall of the rotatable housing and the rotatable housing includes an interior volume. The interior volume of the rotatable housing is partially filled with oil for lubrication of transmission components residing within the interior volume of the housing. The temperature measurement device is rotated through the oil and out of the oil within the rotating housing when the rotating housing is in motion. The wireless transceiver is in communication with the device exterior to the transmission and communicates a temperature measurement from the temperature sensor and battery state of charge information to the device exterior to the transmission.

The transfer structure includes a gear chamber housing first and second gears meshing with each other; a coupling chamber housing a coupling provided coaxially with the first gear; an introduction path which introduces a lubricant in the gear chamber into the coupling chamber; and a return path through which the lubricant in the coupling chamber is returned to the gear chamber. The return path is inclined downward toward the gear chamber from an opening that opens in a lower part of an intermediate part of the coupling chamber in a vehicle front-rear direction to an oil discharge hole that opens in the gear chamber.
