Systems and methods for providing adjustable lubrication to a tandem axle

Methods and systems are provided for adjusting a lubrication system based on an axle configuration of a tandem axle with a disconnect feature. In one example, a method may include adjusting an oil level in an axle sump of a tandem axle based on an axle configuration of the tandem axle (e.g., whether the tandem axle is operating with one of a 6×4 axle configuration and a 6×2 axle configuration), the axle sump selectably coupled to an external reservoir via a first passage and a second passage, the first passage including an electric pump, the second passage including a valve, and the tandem axle coupled to a drivetrain of a motor vehicle. In this way, an amount of oil in the axle sump may be adjusted based on the tandem axle configuration.

Gear unit

A gear unit to be mounted in a vehicle includes a housing for storing oil, a partition disposed inside the housing, and a helical gear. The partition defines first and second oil chambers and has a through-hole allowing the first oil chamber to communicate with the second oil chamber. The helical gear disposed inside the first oil chamber rotates during running of the vehicle and has an angled tooth that draws inner and addendum circles defining a virtual circumferential plane. The through-hole coincides with a portion of the virtual circumferential plane in a direction parallel to a central axis of the helical gear. When the helical gear rotates in conjunction with the running of the vehicle, the oil flows from the second oil chamber into the first oil chamber so that an oil level of the first oil chamber becomes higher than that of the second oil chamber.

Control device for automatic transmission

A control device for an automatic transmission is provided, which includes a vehicle-propelling friction engagement element configured to be engaged when a vehicle starts traveling, an other friction engagement element, a vehicle-propelling friction engagement element temperature detector configured to detect a temperature of the vehicle-propelling friction engagement element, an other friction engagement element temperature detector configured to detect a temperature of the other friction engagement element, and a processor configured to execute lubricant supply control logic to control supply of lubricant to the vehicle-propelling friction engagement element and the other friction engagement element. The lubricant supply control logic switches the supply amount of lubricant to the vehicle-propelling friction engagement element according to the temperature of the vehicle-propelling friction engagement element, and switches the supply amount of lubricant to the other friction engagement element according to the temperature of the other friction engagement element.

Driving system having oil circulation structure

Disclosed is a driving system having an oil circulation structure in which churned oil is collected in a housing and in which the collected oil is efficiently distributed to driving structures, which include a motor and a speed reducer, thereby smoothly cooling and lubricating the respective driving structures. In addition, it is possible to adjust the level of the oil depending on whether the driving structures are in a low-load state or a high-load state, thereby improving lubrication and cooling performance.

Gearbox system for a wind turbine, wind turbine with a gearbox system, and method for operating a gearbox system

The present subject matter relates to a gearbox system for a wind turbine. The gearbox may have a gearbox housing defining an inner gearbox volume. The gearbox system further comprises at least one reservoir for storing lubricant and a lubricant provision arrangement. In addition, a lubricant return arrangement is provided. Thus, the gearbox system comprises a lubrication cycle, in particular a closed lubrication cycle, wherein lubricant is provided from the reservoir through the lubricant provision arrangement to lubrication locations of the gearbox, and is subsequently returned to the reservoir passing through the lubricant return arrangement. Furthermore, the gearbox system includes an aeration arrangement which is connected to the gearbox volume and which has specifically configured restriction means. In order to obtain a beneficial operational behavior of the gearbox system, the gearbox system, in particular the reservoir, the pump, the lubricant provision arrangement and/or the aeration arrangement, is/are configured such that a lubricant flow, having an appropriate pressure and flow rate, is provided from the reservoir to each lubrication location, when the pump is operative; further, the gearbox volume gets flooded with lubricant from the reservoir, when the pump is or becomes inoperative.

Since an oil level of oil in a first space housing a transmission mechanism is lower than an oil level of the oil in a second space housing a differential gear, not only is it possible to lubricate a drive pinion and a ring gear housed in the second space with a sufficient amount of oil while cutting the total amount of oil compared with a case in which the oil levels of the first space and the second space are both high, but it is also possible to reduce the resistance of oil to stirring in the second space by discharging excess oil building up in the second space to the first space via a second oil passage formed along an axial center of a pinion shaft, and to prevent the oil level of the first space from decreasing excessively, thus avoiding aeration of an oil pump.

Gearbox with Passive Lubrication System

A lubrication system includes a reserve housing configured to retain a lubrication fluid. A supply line in fluid communication with the reserve housing is configured to provide pressurized lubrication fluid to the reserve housing. An overflow tube has an overflow port, the overflow tube being configured to prevent the volume of the lubrication fluid from exceeding a certain amount. A metering jet is configured to allow the lubrication fluid to flow from the reserve housing onto a component, such as a bearing, in the gearbox at a predetermined rate. The metering jet provides flow of the lubrication fluid onto the bearing even when the supply line no longer provides pressurized lubrication fluid to the reserve housing.

Gearbox for a motor vehicle

A gearbox for a motor vehicle. The gearbox comprises at least one fluid supply system. The fluid supply system comprises at least one pump. The fluid supply system comprises at least one fluid sump. The fluid supply system comprises at least one fluid reservoir. The fluid reservoir comprises at least a first fluid outflow leading into the fluid sump. The first fluid outflow can be controlled as a function of a state variable.
