Shifter assembly

A shifter assembly selects a first mode and a second mode of a transmission for a vehicle. The shifter assembly includes a housing and a shift lever movably coupled to the housing and pivotable relative to the housing. The shift lever includes a body and a cap defining an aperture and being coupled to the body. The cap is rotatable relative to the body between a first and a second orientations. The shift lever further includes a toggle device partially received by the cap in the aperture with at least a portion of the toggle device being moveably coupled to the body between a rest and a depressed positions. The shift lever further includes an element mounted to the toggle device and rotatable with the cap between the first and the second orientations. The shift lever further includes a sensor system configured to interact with the element to detect rotation of the cap between the first and the second orientations.

SHIFT-BY-WIRE SHIFT ELEMENT INTEGRATED INTO A MOTOR VEHICLE HAND REST

A rest element extends along a transverse direction from a passenger side to an opposite driver side and has a rest surface, which faces in a vertical direction, for a user's hand. A shift element is arranged at a driver-side end of the rest element and between the rest surface and an opposite lower side of the rest element, for operating a shift-by-wire gear selection controller. The shift element is configured to be movable along the transverse direction between a stowage position and a shift position. The shift element is arranged immovably with respect to a longitudinal direction in the stowage position and is mounted movably unidirectionally or bidirectionally in the shift position.

Apparatus for controlling shift of manual transmission

A shift control apparatus of a manual transmission, which is capable of limiting shifting to a low gear at a high speed may be provided. The shift control apparatus of a manual transmission includes: a shift lever 100 including a rod; a shift lock limiting the movement of the rod; and a controller which compares a speed of a vehicle with a predetermined critical speed of a predetermined gear and controls the shift lock. When the speed of the vehicle is greater than the critical speed, the controller prevents down shifting into a predetermined gear.

SHIFT KNOB WITH SELECTABLE SWITCHES

A knob with internal switches can be installed on a gear shift to provide a driver with handy access to the switches while keeping a hand on the shifter. This can be very handy during four wheeling. A particular switch can be selected by rotating the lower section of the knob to the switch position for that switch. The selected switch can be activated or closed by pulling a spring loaded sliding piece up into the knob. A lockout position prevents the lower section from rotating while detents provide tactile guidance as to when the knob is in a switch position or the lockout position.

Vehicle and accessory control system

A control system for a vehicle, such as an off-road recreational vehicle, that includes a powertrain and an accessory. The control system includes an actuator, such as a paddle shifter, configured to operate in a powertrain mode to control an aspect of the powertrain, and to operate in an accessory mode to control an aspect of the accessory. The control system also includes a selector configured to switch the actuator between the powertrain mode and the accessory mode.

Vehicle accessory controls, and methods of use and manufacture thereof

Some embodiments are directed to a control system for use with a vehicle having handlebars that are configured to enable vehicle steering. The handlebars define a pair of grasping portions that are disposed to facilitate grasping by a vehicle operator's hands. The vehicle also includes a powertrain and an accessory. The control system includes a manually actuable primary selector disposed adjacent one of the grasping portions to enable manual actuation while one of the vehicle operator's hands grasps the one grasping portion. The primary selector is configured to operate in a powertrain mode to control an aspect of the powertrain, and to operate in a separate accessory mode to control an aspect of the accessory. A manually actuable override selector is disposed adjacent the one grasping portion. The override selector is configured to be manually actuable to switch the primary selector between the powertrain mode and the accessory mode.

Apparatus and method for operating vehicles and other technical equipment by way of a haptic operating device having a rotating unit. Selectable menu items are displayed on a display unit, and a menu item being selected by rotating the rotating unit. The rotating unit latches at a number of haptically perceptible latching points during rotation. The number and rotational position of the haptically perceptible latching points is dynamically changed.
