Control of a limited slip differential based on an engine torque

A limited slip differential (LSD) is mounted on a driven axle of a vehicle to drive left and right wheels. To control the LSD, a speed of the vehicle is determined. A value of a preload for application to the LSD is also determined. The value of the preload is based on a predicted engine torque and on the speed of the vehicle. A preload is applied to the LSD when the value of the preload is greater than zero.

An arrangement comprising a motor, a transmission, a transmission control unit and an auxillary use. The motor is rotatably connected to the transmission and the auxillary user. The transmission control unit is designed to determine a torque applied to the transmission by using a parameterisable function, wherein the function maps rotational speeds of the motor to a torque applied to the auxillary user at the rotational speed.

The controller is programmed to, in response to an upshift of the transmission, a driver-demanded torque being zero, and the brake pedal being released, command a first pressure, that is greater than zero, to an oncoming shift element associated with the upshift such that the oncoming shift element has a torque capacity of zero, in response to the brake pedal being applied during the upshift of the transmission, command a second, larger pressure to the oncoming shift element to increase the torque capacity to a non-zero value, and, in response to expiration of a threshold time from the brake pedal being applied, command a series of sequentially ramping pressures to the oncoming shift element to further increase the torque capacity and lock the oncoming shift element.

A method for operating a power shiftable transmission of a motor vehicle, the transmission including a control unit, an input shaft, an output shaft, a gear set, and multiple shift elements, the method including transmitting, with the control unit, a request for a reduction of a drive torque acting on the input shaft for carrying out an upshift, and determining, with the control unit, whether the reduction is completely possible, partially possible, or impossible based on a signal. When the reduction is completely possible, the method includes controlling, with the control unit, a torque transmission rate of a shift element of the multiple shift elements to be engaged during the upshift according to a first way. When the reduction is partially possible or impossible, the method includes controlling, with the control unit, the torque transmission rate according to a second way, the second way differing from the first way.

Shift control method for vehicle with DCT

A shift control method can be used for a vehicle with a dual-clutch transmission (DCT). A controller determines whether or not a power-on upshift is initiated in a state in which a high performance mode has been selected. The controller performs a torque phase in which a coupling-side clutch torque is gradually increased and a release-side clutch torque is gradually released. The coupling-side clutch torque is gradually increased to a target coupling-side clutch torque corresponding to a value obtained by adding a push feel torque to a base torque. The controller performs an inertia phase in which the coupling-side clutch torque is gradually increased while tracing an engine torque such that an engine speed is synchronized with a coupling-side clutch speed. The controller completes speed change through gradual decrease of the coupling-side clutch torque.

Calibration method for a slip control arrangement of a driveline including a continuously variable transmission

A calibration method for a slip control arrangement of a driveline including a continuously variable transmission is described herein. The driveline includes a clutch that is so controlled as to slip when a torque higher than the usable torque attempts to pass through. Accordingly, the clutch prevents the prime mover from stalling. A calibration method to link a valve command value and a torque allowed to pass through the clutch includes preventing the vehicle from moving and increasing the pressure applied in the clutch while noting the torque % value developed by the prime mover.
