Plastic injection mold—SVG actuator—internal seal upgrade
An improved life hydraulic valve actuator for a mold used in an injection molding machine. The actuator includes a housing for insertion into a hot runner assembly having a movable valve gate pin. A bore in the housing for receives an actuation piston which is connected to the gate pin. A hydraulic chamber in the assembly lifts the piston upward and downward for actuation of the pin in a valve gate. The actuation piston includes a centrally located circumferential double lip seal. The wall of the bore includes a pair of circumferential seals for engaging the outer circumference of the piston. The seals are positioned axially on either side of said centrally located double lip seal of the piston for sealing and guiding the piston. The circumferential bore seals include a Teflon ring which protects the bore in the event of seal failure and a second seal made of a Viton material. The seals in combination increase the longevity of the actuator over three fold than a similar actuation valve.
SEAL ARRANGEMENT FOR ROTATING EQUIPMENT
A sealing arrangement having inboard and outboard dynamic seals in a housing separated by a barrier fluid and having a sealed relationship with a relatively movable bearing-guided shaft. A bearing chamber having bearing lubricant exposed to the inboard dynamic seal. The inboard dynamic seal is a hydrodynamic seal having a hydrodynamic pumping action in response to relative rotation between the shaft and the inboard dynamic seal. The hydrodynamic pumping action forcing a film of the bearing lubricant between the inboard dynamic seal and the shaft. The hydrodynamic pumping-related leakage of the inboard dynamic seal being returned to the bearing chamber in which the shaft guidance bearings are located.
Polymer seal assembly
A seal assembly includes a seal body, a spring disposed adjacent to the seal body, and a seal ring disposed adjacent to the seal body. The seal body and the seal ring can include a plastic polymer material. The seal assembly can be a subcomponent of hydraulic strut in the landing gear of an aircraft.
Seal Assembly with Eccentricity Tracking
A seal assembly includes a casing coupled with a body and an annular elastomeric seal member having a base portion coupleable with a casing and a cantilever portion radially deflectable with respect to the base portion. The cantilever portion has an end connected with the base portion and a free end with sealing lip. The lip has a sealing surface extending about a centerline and is engageable with a shaft. An annular rigid tracking member is attached to the seal member proximal to the first end of the seal cantilever portion and is spaced axially from the seal lip. The tracking member has a centerline and a tracking surface engageable by the shaft outer surface so that the tracking member centerline and the seal lip centerline each remain coaxial with the shaft axis during rotation of the shaft. Further, a support member prevents axial displacement of the seal member.
Large-Gap-Seal ("LGS") Assembly
A large-gap-seal (LGS) assembly and methods for its assembly and use are described. The LGS assembly has an elastomer core surrounded by adjoining structural segments. Non-adjoining gap segments are located on the sidewall surfaces of the elastomer core, with each gap segment approximately centered beneath the edges of two adjoining structural segments. The gap segments are exposed by the spaces that form between the structural segments when the LGS assembly is activated. Exposing the gap segments rather than the elastomer core protects the elastomer core from damage and preserves the integrity of the seal between the isolation tool and the inner wall of the pipeline.
Interlocking composite seals
Seal assemblies and methods for forming them are described. Aspects of the seal assemblies include a seal ring made of a relative soft material supported by a specially configured backing ring made of a much higher modulus material, such as ferrous and non-ferrous metal or engineered plastic. The seal assemblies may optionally include a retaining ring to prevent slippage relative to the environment or housing in which they are placed and to prevent shuttling. The seal assemblies may also optionally include an energizer to alter the force generating by a sealing lip on the seal ring. The seal assemblies preferably include a rigid hoop ring to minimize shrinkage due to thermal cycling.
Wiper unit and hydraulic working apparatus including a wiper unit
A wiper unit includes a retaining ring, which is arranged in a rotationally symmetric fashion about a longitudinal axis and which includes a contact portion for being received at a housing part, a primary wiper and a secondary wiper, which is axially spaced away from the primary wiper towards the secondary side. A primary lip is formed at the primary wiper and a secondary lip is formed at the secondary wiper. The primary lip and the secondary lip, in a mounted state, contact a sliding surface of a guided slide partner part in a sealing fashion, wherein the primary lip protrudes towards the primary side in a collar-like fashion and wherein the primary lip, at the side thereof facing away from the guided slide partner part, is at least sectionally conically tapered towards the primary side, wherein the primary lip comprises a contact surface arranged for abutting the sliding surface.
Flowline divertor seal with spring-energized sealing lips
A seal for installation within a flowline diverter assembly including a housing having a bore, and a spool received within the bore. The seal includes an annular body configured to be received between the spool and the bore. The body also has an inner diameter face disposable opposite the spool, and an outer diameter face disposable opposite the bore. The inner diameter face has a first and a second lip portion which are energizable responsive to fluid pressure. A generally annular first spring member is molded into the outer diameter face adjacent a first end face of the body, and a generally annular second spring member is molded into the body outer diameter face adjacent a second end face. Generally annular third and fourth spring members each also may be molded into a corresponding one of the body lip portions.
ANTI-EXTRUSION SEAL ARRANGEMENT AND RAM-STYLE BLOWOUT PREVENTER
A blowout preventer (BOP) and a seal anti-extrusion apparatus is provided for well control about a tubular such as a polish rod. Each of opposing ram blocks support a semi-circular primary seal and at least one downstream backup ring. An extrusion gap is formed between the ram block and the rod. The backup ring has profile that is axially compressible by the primary seal when activated, causing an inner diameter diminish, and closing the extrusion gap for improved sealing integrity of the primary seal.
Apparatus for Preventing Extrusion and Method of Manufacturing an Anti-Extrusion Ring
An anti-extrusion ring for supporting a sealing unit of a piston or rod system is disclosed. The anti-extrusion ring is split across two surfaces for ease of installation and the split is configured to effectively prevent extrusion at either split surface and eliminate nibbling of the sealing components.
