Sealing system for rotary shaft

A sealing unit for a drive shaft driving a working fluid; the sealing unit comprising a sleeve attached to the drive shaft and a gland attached to the housing, a static seal ring attached to the gland and in close proximity to the sleeve, and a stuffing box about the static seal ring, fibrous packing seal blocking the distal and proximal ends of the stuffing box and a first sealant comprising a viscous, non-Newtonian fluid that is injected into the stuffing box under a first pressure exceeding the pressure of the working fluid; the sealing unit further comprising an inner fluid seal of a Newtonian fluid between the first sealant and the drive shaft upstream of the first sealant, such that the Newtonian fluid seal is kept at a pressure slightly higher than the pressure of the working fluid and prevents the working fluid from reaching the first sealant.

Seal stack assembly

Systems and methods include providing an annular seal stack for an assembly. The seal stack is disposed within an annulus formed between a probe and a housing of the assembly and configured to provide a radial seal between the probe and the housing. The seal stack includes a first support retainer, a first lipseal, a first seal support system comprising at least one support ring disposed between the first support retainer and the first lipseal, a second support retainer configured to support the first lipseal, a second lipseal, a second seal support system comprising at least one support ring disposed between the second support retainer and the second lipseal, and a third support retainer configured to support the second lipseal.

A gas compressor compressing gas includes a cylinder liner, a piston member, and a first sliding member. The piston member includes a piston reciprocating in an inner space of the cylinder liner, and a piston rod connected to the piston. The first sliding member is made of a resin, has a ring shape, and is provided on one of the piston member and the cylinder liner. The first sliding member slides relatively against a reception member while another of the piston member and the cylinder liner serves as the reception member that receives sliding. An amorphous carbon film is formed on a sliding surface of each of the first sliding member and the reception member. A carbon content in the amorphous carbon film formed on each of the sliding surfaces is larger in its surface part than in its inner part on an inner side of the surface part.
