A valve assembly includes a valve body having a seat-retainer chamber with a floating seat ring disposed adjacent an inner sidewall of the seat-retainer chamber. The floating seat ring is configured to contact a first portion of a plug head at a single annular location prior to a second portion of the plug head contacting a valve primary seat during a closing stroke of the plug head. A static seal is located radially between the floating seat ring and the inner sidewall of the seat-retainer chamber.

RADIAL LIFT SEAL

A bearing compartment seal for a gas turbine engine includes a seal ring that defines an axis and has a radially inward facing sealing surface. A seal runner is configured to rotate relative to the seal ring. The seal runner has a runner surface facing the radially inward facing sealing surface. A plurality of grooves are spaced circumferentially along the runner surface. The plurality of grooves have a length in an axial direction that is at least 50% of an axial length of the runner surface.

Split ring seal for gas turbine engine rotor

A gas turbine engine rotor assembly, comprising: a shaft about an axis having an outer surface radially outward and a groove radially into the outer surface; a disc surrounding the shaft rotatable with the shaft about the axis, the disc having an inner surface extending axially defining an inner diameter, having a disc profile around the groove and axially away from and radially inwardly of the inner diameter, the shaft and the disc defining a gap circumscribed outwardly by the inner diameter and inwardly by the outer surface; and a seal including a split ring fitted into the groove and rotatable with the shaft about the axis, the ring having a ring profile complementary to the disc profile, the ring resiliently expandable radially in the gap to the inner diameter, the disc profile cooperable with the ring profile to axially load the shaft via the ring expanded across the gap.

A hydrostatic seal assembly configured to be disposed between relatively rotatable components includes a base. The seal also includes a shoe operatively coupled to the base. The seal further includes a secondary seal disposed proximate an axially forward end of the shoe, the secondary seal extending radially from a radially inner end to a radially outer end to define a radial distance of the secondary seal, the secondary seal having an axially forward face. The seal yet further includes a structural component located adjacent to the axially forward face of the secondary seal and extending radially inwardly to cover at least half of the radial distance of the secondary seal.

Balanced circumferential seal

A machine has: an outer member; an inner member mounted for rotation about an axis relative to the outer member; and a seal system. The seal system has: a seal housing mounted to the outer member; one or more seal rings held by the seal housing and having an inner diameter surface; and a seal runner mounted to the inner member and having a first outer diameter surface portion contacting or facing the inner diameter surface of the one or more seal rings. The seal runner has a circumferential array of mounting features. One or more weights are mounted to one or more of the mounting features.

SEAL RING

A circular annular seal ring made from a resin is adapted to be disposed between an outer member and an inner member that rotate relative to each other. The seal ring is disposed in a circumferential groove of the outer member or the inner member to isolate a liquid space from an external space. The seal ring is formed from an elongated and arcuate rod to define a circle by joining ends of the rod, and has a junction formed from the ends. The seal ring has a radial thickness gradually decreasing from two points that are apart from the junction toward the junction. The points are separated from the junction by an angle of not less than 60 degrees and not more than 150 degrees about a central axis of the circle.

Articulating cantilevered hydrostatic seal

A hydrostatic seal configured to be disposed between relatively rotatable components is provided. The seal includes a seal housing. The seal also includes a shoe having a first axially extending segment, a second axially extending segment, and a radially extending segment joining the first and second axially extending segments, the shoe cantilevered to the seal housing.
