A seal includes a seal runner, at least one seal ring, and a seal housing. The runner extends in an axial direction to a runner end face that faces a bearing. The ring is fixed to a static structure and has an inner surface engaging the seal runner and a first face that faces the bearing. The seal housing is fixed to the static structure and includes a first portion extending in an axial direction from the first face of the seal ring to a housing face that faces the bearing. The first portion has a first length extending from the first face of the seal ring to the housing face. The seal runner has a first runner portion with a second length that extends from the first face of the seal ring to the runner end face. The second length is at least 35% longer than the first length.

A device configured to seal a circumferential gap between a first turbomachine component and a second turbomachine component mutually rotatable about a longitudinal axis. The device is provided with a first sealing element connected to the first turbomachine component and with a second scaling element having an inner part provided with a plurality of projections extending towards the second machine component to define the teeth of a labyrinth seal between the high pressure region and the low pressure region of the turbo machine. The outer part of the second sealing element is connected to the first sealing element through an clastic element. One or more pressure chambers located between the first sealing element and the second sealing element are in fluid communication with the processing fluid of the turbomachine to derive a force acting on the outer part of the second scaling element in the direction of gap closure.

Controlled gap seal with surface discontinuities

There is disclosed a controlled gap seal for a gas turbine engine including a ring configured to be in a sealing engagement with a housing and a runner configured for rotation relative to the ring about the central axis. The runner has a runner face facing a ring face of the ring. The ring face is spaced apart from the runner face by a gap. A plurality of surface discontinuities are circumferentially distributed around the central axis on the runner face and/or the ring face. The plurality of surface discontinuities are spaced relative to one another such that a first set of adjacent surface discontinuities are circumferentially spaced from each other at a different distance than a second set of adjacent surface discontinuities. A method of using the controlled gap seal is disclosed.

Seal ring assembly for a gas turbine engine

A rotor assembly for a gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a rotor that has a hub carrying one or more rotatable blades. The rotor is mechanically attached to a shaft, and an annular seal is carried by the shaft. The annular seal includes a substrate, a first layer disposed on the substrate, and a second layer disposed on the first layer and arranged to establish a sealing relationship with the rotor. The second layer includes a solid lubricant that has molybdenum trioxide (MoO3). A method of sealing for a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

In a vertical sealing device with a seal portion axially sealing a rotating shaft provided in a machine and extending in a vertical direction, an annular collar portion which extends in an outward radial direction from a radial gap between a rotational side element and a stationary side element is provided in the rotational side element so as to be located on an outside of the machine with relation to the seal portion.

Self-aligning seal

A self-aligning dust seal assembly for rock crusher machines and particularly gyratory crusher machines has a dust seal and a seal guide that extends from the dust seal in a cone shape to enable alignment of the dust seal when the main shaft is lowered into position. The dust seal has a body portion that is disc shaped. There is an inner seal surface around the inner perimeter of the dust ring that seals against an inner element of the crusher. The seal guide extends down and outward from a connected portion with the dust seal that is proximal the inner perimeter of the dust seal. The seal guide is cone shaped and extends outward in a convex shape from the connected portion. The cone shape of the seal guide may nest on a corresponding flange that is fixed in the rock crusher machine, for example.

Seal device

A sealing device includes a floating ring in a space between the outer circumference of a rotating shaft and the inner circumference of a housing, and a multi-layered cylindrical body including a plurality of elastically deformable cylindrical thin plates layered on top of each other provided between an outer peripheral surface of the floating ring and an inner peripheral surface of the housing, so as to impart a radial restoring force against the eccentricity of the rotating shaft to restore it to its center position, and a tangential damping force to reduce the whirling of the rotating shaft.

In an exemplary embodiment, a seal device 10 that seals between a housing 11 and a rotation shaft 20 passing through the housing 11 includes a floating ring 15 arranged with a gap h with respect to the rotation shaft 20, wherein the floating ring 15 includes at least one supporting means 18 that supports in the circumferential direction. In the seal device, the floating ring follows movement of the rotation shaft even upon running for a long time, a clearance between the rotation shaft and the seal ring can be properly held, and the sealing operation by the floating ring and the vibration damping function can be exerted, and the seal device is easily assembled.
