WELDABLE, LOW LEAD AND LEAD-FREE PLUMBING FITTINGS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

A plumbing fitting that includes: a fitting body having a plurality of ends; and a cover element joined to the body with a weld in proximity to and spaced from an interface in contact with a potable or non-potable aqueous medium. The body and the cover element are fabricated from a lead-free or low lead, copper or copper-silicon alloy having a thermal conductivity of 45 W/(m*K). Further, the weld has a centerline that is 6.4 mm from the interface and/or a heat affected zone that has an average width 400 m and is spaced from the interface. The plumbing fittings include but are not limited to ball valves, gate valves, elbows, check valves and other fittings without stems.

Knife Gate Valve Liner

Embodiments of the invention provide a housing assembly for a knife gate valve with a knife gate. The housing assembly includes a valve body defining a passageway and having a first body half and a second body half, and a one-piece liner arranged between the first body half and the second body half. A first part of the one-piece liner includes a first chest portion, a first liner bore, and a first sealing bead that is configured to engage the knife gate and extends circumferentially around the passageway. The first sealing bead defines a varying protrusion height as the first sealing bead extends around the passageway.

PIPELINE CONTROL UNIT
20180372231 · 2018-12-27 ·

A pipeline control unit that joins pipeline conduits and has a housing with an interior compartment for receiving a gate. A valve servicing assembly or pressure plates can be installed onto the housing to form a fluid tight structure to allow removal and replacement of a retained gate without depressurizing a pipeline system. Strongbacks attached to the housing can compress lateral walls of the housing to secure a gate in the interior compartment, and removal of such compression allows removal of the gate while the pipeline is pressurized.

SLIDE GATE ASSEMBLY

A slide gate assembly is disclosed, comprising a gate frame with an integral frame seal and a slide gate slidably mounted on the gate frame. The gate frame includes a frame opening, a frame support structure, and the integral frame seal with a frame seating face. The slide gate consists of a gate body and an integral gate seal with a gate seating face that seals and slides along the frame seating face. The slide gate is movable between an open orientation, allowing fluid flow through the frame opening, and a closed orientation, restricting fluid flow through the frame opening.

The present invention discloses a method for manufacturing a slide gate, involving providing a gate body with a first face and integrally forming an integral gate seal with the gate body through a hybrid manufacturing process. The hybrid manufacturing process includes depositing an additive material onto the first face of the gate body to create the integral gate seal, with the deposition carried out by a first machine. Subsequently, the integral gate seal is machined to achieve the desired size and shape, with the machining also performed by the same first machine. This method combines additive manufacturing and machining techniques to efficiently produce slide gates with integral gate seals of precise dimensions and configurations.

A valve including a valve seat assembly that includes a first valve seat sealing member positioned between a first valve seat retaining ring and a first radially inwardly extending flange that extends from an inner surface of a hollow valve retainer, and a second valve seat sealing member positioned between a second valve seat retaining ring and a second radially inwardly extending flange that extends from the inner surface of the hollow valve retainer. A valve member is configured to engage and disengage with the first and second valve seat sealing members to permit fluid to travel from a fluid inlet to a fluid outlet.

OPERATING SLIDE VALVES IN PETROCHEMICAL PLANTS OR REFINERIES

A plant or refinery may include equipment such as condensers, regenerators, distillation columns, pumps, slide valves, or the like. Different operating methods may impact deterioration in equipment condition, thereby prolonging equipment life, extending production operating time, or providing other benefits. Mechanical or digital sensors may be used for monitoring equipment to determine whether problems are developing. Specifically, sensors may be used in conjunction with one or more system components to predict and detect slide valve sticking. A shielded, tube skin thermocouple assembly may provide a temperature profile for a slide valve. Tomography may be used to image a slide valve. An operating condition of the plant or refinery may be adjusted to prolong equipment life or avoid equipment failure.
