Reciprocating gas compressor valve

A reciprocating gas compressor valve having a plurality of clusters of kidney shaped holes positioned along a common circular or annular locus in the main body and a sealing element with a top portion, a bottom portion and a tubular section. The tubular section is integrally connected to the top portion and bottom portion. In an open position, a flow pathway is provided through the clusters of kidney shaped holes and the tubular section and the bottom profile abuts a stop surface of the valve. In a closed position, the top profile abuts the seat for sealing gas flow within the valve.

Each disc includes fluid passageways extending between inner and outer perimeters of the disc, with each passageway defining a flow axis extending out of the disc and radially offset from a central axis of the discs. A plug is moveable relative to the discs between closed and open positions. In the closed position, a cylindrical section of the plug is positioned to block fluid flow through the annular discs. In the open position, the annular discs and a tapered section of the plug collectively define an annular vortex chamber. The fluid passageways in the annular discs and the tapered section of the plug collectively impart a rotational flow when the plug is in the open position and as fluid exits the annular discs.

A stationary regulator valve seat is disposed between the inlet flow passage and an inlet to the plunger. A drain check shuttle is disposed in the inlet cap and positioned downstream of the regulator valve seat to prevent water from draining out of the regulator when an inlet water pressure is below a predetermined threshold.
