SEISMICALLY ACTIVATED GAS SHUT-OFF VALVE WITH WEIGHT DISPLACED TRIGGER MECHANISM
A gas shut-off valve assembly designed to automatically close gas flow in a gas conduit in response to a seismic vibration comprises a door which may be parallel to a port in the conduit and a weight above the door. In some embodiments, the door may be mostly out of the conduit passageway and out of the gas flow allowing for improved gas flow efficiency in the normally open state. Upon sensing a seismic vibration, the weight falls from a platform onto the door causing the door to move into the conduit passageway sealing the passageway. In some embodiments, a port in the passageway is perpendicular to the door's default position in the open state. When the door closes the passageway, the door rotates ninety degrees about an axis into the second closed position to become parallel with the port.
Emergency Lubrication System for Tiltrotor Aircraft
Various implementations described herein are directed to an emergency lubrication system for a tiltrotor aircraft. The emergency lubrication system includes a pressurized material chamber, a lubrication chamber, a first valve between the pressurized material chamber and the lubrication chamber, a gearbox, and a second valve between the lubrication chamber and the gearbox. The first valve is configured to operate in a first mode when the emergency lubrication system is in a first configuration and a second mode when the emergency lubrication system is in a second configuration.
Electromagnetic release for valve
An emergency shut-off valve assembly includes a valve having a closure assembly that includes a closure member coupled to an arm that rotates about a shaft. The valve assembly also includes an actuation assembly having a securement member coupled to the shaft; and an electromagnet adapted to generate a first magnetic force in a first state and a second magnetic force in a second state. In the first state, a contact surface of the securement member is in contact with and magnetically coupled to a contact surface of the electromagnet such that the closure member, the arm, and the shaft are maintained in the first open position against a rotational force provided by a biasing member. In the second state, the closure member, the arm, and the shaft are rotated into the second closed position by the rotational force provided by the biasing member.
COOLING APPARATUS FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A cooling apparatus includes a circulation circuit, a pump, a flow rate adjustment valve, and a controller. The flow rate adjustment valve includes a valve member that rotates to change an open degree of the flow rate adjustment valve and a stopper that moves between a restriction position and a retraction position. The controller is configured to execute, when maintaining the open degree of the flow rate adjustment, a preparatory process of moving the stopper to the restriction position after arranging the stopper at the retraction position and arranging the valve member further in the valve-closing direction than the stopper through control of the pump discharge amount.
Earthquake gas valve
An earthquake gas valve that uses a battery powered actuation mechanism to automatically close a gas valve when the movement caused by an earthquake is perceived. A gear motor is activated by a plurality of shake switches which in turn cause a motor driven radial rack to rotate. The rack terminates in a closure plug which obstructs the gas outlet opening and prevents gas from entering the house or office when an earthquake occurs. A timing circuit delays the activation of the closure plug to make sure that the motion has been caused by an earthquake and not by an accidental brief jarring action.
TRIP COCK VALVE FOR A BRAKE SYSTEM ON A RAIL CAR
A trip cock valve for a brake system on a rail car includes a valve body that defines an inlet, a chamber downstream from the inlet, and an outlet downstream from the chamber. A piston is inside the chamber. A valve member operably connected to the piston has a first position that prevents fluid flow through the outlet and a second position that permits fluid flow through the outlet. A lever is operably engaged with the valve member to move the valve member from the first position to the second position. A valve position indicator downstream from the inlet is in fluid communication with the inlet when the valve member is in the second position.
EXPLOSION FLAP VALVE
An explosion isolation device is disclosed. The explosion isolation device may comprise a conduit having a flap configured to rotate between an open position and a closed position within the conduit, and a holding mechanism configured to hold the flap in the open position. The holding mechanism may be configured to release the flap in the event of an explosion and the flap may be configured to rotate into the closed position after it is released. The device may include a sensor and an actuator configured to actuate the holding mechanism when an explosion is sensed. The conduit may be vertical.
Intelligent retrofit seismic wave detector and valve shutoff device
A retrofit valve shutoff device comprises a coupling key for coupling with an actuator of a shutoff valve, an accelerometer for making acceleration measurements in three directions, a motor, and a processing unit. The processing unit determines the arrival of seismic P-waves when the ratio of vibrations' power in the vertical direction with respect to a sum of the vibrations' power in the three directions exceeds a first threshold. The processing unit then determines the arrival of seismic S-waves when the sum of the vibrations' power in the three directions exceeds a second threshold. The processing unit then determines the arrival of seismic surface waves when the sum of the vibrations' power in the three directions exceeds a third threshold. The processing unit then sends a signal to the motor to rotate the coupling key and the actuator of the shutoff valve to close the shutoff valve.
Earthquake water shutoff valve
This disclosure is directed to a traditional gate valve whereby the parts are retrofitted to enable the gate valve to stop the flow of water in an earthquake. This device utilizes a weight and springs to trigger a response which closes the gate valve.
Valve assembly failsafe
A valve assembly failsafe configured to be coupled to an actuator of a coolant control regulator assembly is provided. The valve assembly failsafe includes a wind arm, a spring that engages the wind arm under spring tension, a latch that engages the wind arm, a drive gear that engages the wind arm and the actuator, and a driver that engages the latch. The valve assembly failsafe is configured to be positioned in a set state where the latch engages and retains the wind arm under spring tension and the drive gear freely rotates during rotation of the actuator, and a tripped state where the driver rotates the latch to disengage the latch from the wind arm, causing the wind arm to rotate under the spring tension to engage the drive gear and cause the drive gear to drive the actuator to a default position.
