Noise reducing diffuser trim
A fluid valve includes a valve body having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet connected by a fluid passageway. A valve seat is disposed within the fluid passageway. A fluid control member is movably disposed within the fluid passageway, the fluid control member cooperating with a trim assembly to control fluid flow through the fluid passageway. The trim assembly includes a cage having a plurality of openings that characterize fluid flowing through the cage and a plurality of vents that suppress noise generated by the plurality of openings.

A choke may include an inlet for receiving a flow stream. The choke may also include a valve assembly configured to receive the flow stream from the inlet and control the flow stream. The plug includes a second annular sidewall circumscribed by the first annular sidewall. The second annular sidewall includes third openings extending through the second annular sidewall. The plug is movable relative to the cage to selectively place the third openings in fluid communication with the first openings.

An example valve includes a valve body, a cage, and a plug. The valve body includes a fluid passageway extending between a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. The cage and the plug are disposed in the fluid passageway. The cage includes a first annular sidewall having an inner layer and an outer layer that circumscribes the inner layer. The inner layer includes first openings extending through the inner layer. The outer layer includes second openings extending through the outer layer. The second openings are in fluid communication with the first openings. The second openings are smaller than the first openings. The plug includes a second annular sidewall circumscribed by the first annular sidewall. The second annular sidewall includes third openings extending through the second annular sidewall. The plug is movable relative to the cage to selectively place the third openings in fluid communication with the first openings.
Flow control device
A flow control device is described comprising a generally cylindrical cage 12 including a series of perforations 14 defining, in part, convoluted flow paths between inner and outer peripheries of the device 10, and fences 18 restricting axial flow along at least one of the inner and outer periphery of the cage 12, wherein at least one of the fences 18 is shaped to include a first section 18a at a first axial position, a second section 18b at an axial position spaced from the first section 18a, and interconnecting sections 18c interconnecting the first and second sections 18a, 18b.
Flow control device
A flow control device is described comprising a generally cylindrical cage 12 including a series of perforations 14 defining, in part, convoluted flow paths between inner and outer peripheries of the device 10, and fences 18 restricting axial flow along at least one of the inner and outer periphery of the cage 12, wherein at least one of the fences 18 is shaped to include a first section 18a at a first axial position, a second section 18b at an axial position spaced from the first section 18a, and interconnecting sections 18c interconnecting the first and second sections 18a, 18b.
