Roller member for use in an apparatus for closing Pittsburgh seams associated with duct assemblies and other box-shaped members
A vertical Pittsburgh Seam closing apparatus having a base supporting surface, a track mechanism for moving a carriage assembly which holds seam forming members used to close a Pittsburgh Seam, a pair of upper and lower guide members for guiding the duct section into a proper vertical position, and upper and lower clamping members positioned inside the duct section and adjacent the inside portion of the Pittsburgh Seam to be closed, the upper guide members and clamping member being selectively movable and adjustable for accommodating different duct section lengths. In one embodiment, the seam forming assembly includes three roller members mounted in vertical arrangement to each other, one roller member being V-shaped in configuration and the other two roller members being substantially cylindrical in shape. The V-shaped roller member may also include one or more projecting members for forming dimples in the closing process to prevent shifting and/or slipping of the closed seam.

Angle plate package having a single strap
A stacked package of angle plates for use in association with a device for assembling individual ones of said angle plates into receptive flanges of HVAC duct sections is disclosed. A strap zone is defined as a portion of the stacked package located proximate to the apex of each of the angle plates, preferably from the apex to a point approximately 25% along the length of each of the legs. A single tensioned strap is placed extending around each of the angle plates in the stacked package and is located within the strap zone. The strap exerts a sufficient amount of tension to restrain each of the angle plates within the stacked package, and is preferably four foot-pounds.

Corner seal device for ductwork for conditioned air and method of assembly of such ductwork to prevent air leaks
A corner seal device for sealing a space defined between respective end portions of an adjacent pair of orthogonal flange members of a conditioned air duct having a generally rectangular cross-section includes a first plate member having a surface dimensioned and configured for placement in face-to-face relation with the respective adjacent upper surface portions of said adjacent flange members; and a leg member extending away from a generally central portion of said plate member and being generally perpendicular thereto, wherein the leg member includes second and third orthogonal plate members having respectively orthogonal surface portions, and wherein the second and third orthogonal plate members are configured and dimensioned to engage corresponding respective adjacent orthogonal inner wall surface portions of the duct when the first plate member is positioned on said flange members.

Method and apparatus for suspending duct by inserted corner members
A unitary support assembly for connecting an air transport duct to a support includes a body portion, a duct connecting means integrally formed with the body portion for selectively securing the support assembly to the air transport duct, and a support connecting means integrally formed with the body portion opposite the duct connecting means for selectively securing the support assembly to the support.

System and method for joining and hanging ducts
A system and method of assembling flanged duct sections, using large sheet metal screws through opposing inserted corner plates. The large screws are threadedly inserted fully through the corner plates of a first duct section and hold perpendicular thereto for guiding alignment with the mating duct section. The screws hold the duct sections apart to allow aligning them without fluid sealant or tape gasket material on one of the duct sections contacting the other. The screws are then threadedly engaged with the corner plates of the mating duct section, bringing the duct sections together with a leak resistant seal therebetween. Optional hanger brackets can be placed between the corner plates before assembly, and additional screws used to deform the flanges and corner plates about the brackets to compress the sealant or gasket thereabout.
