Leak-sealing device and method and system for sealing a leak
10767804 · 2020-09-08 ·

A leak-sealing device for sealing a leak in a container, a tank and/or a pipe includes a housing-type carrier unit, at least one expandable sealing member provided on an end region of the carrier unit, which does not expand, or only a little, in the storage position thereof, and at least one fluid connection and/or at least one fluid-release unit which is coupled to the carrier unit in such a way that, during the supply of fluid, the leak-sealing member is at least partially filled and expanded with the fluid in the sealing position thereof by means of a fluid supply. A method for sealing a leak using the leak-sealing device and to a system including the leak-sealing device and a fluid-supply device utilizes a release unit for fluid release.

CONDUIT LOCKING DEVICE
20200240568 · 2020-07-30 ·

A conduit locking device includes a housing having a first end, a second end, and a sidewall disposed between the first end and the second end. The conduit locking device may further include a slide engaged with the sidewall of the housing, the slide including an extension arm and an end portion structurally configured to engage with an inner wall of a conduit. The slide may be extendable via the extension arm from a first position substantially adjacent to the sidewall of the housing to a second position disposed away from the sidewall of the housing, where, when in the second position, the slide is configured to retain the conduit locking device at a fixed position within the conduit through the engagement of the end portion with the inner wall of the conduit.

Plugging a heat exchanger tube

A plug assembly is used to block flow through a heat exchanger tube. The plug assembly includes a frusto-conical plug body, a frangible attachment on an end of the plug body, and a ring assembly circumscribing the plug body. When positioned around a larger diameter portion of the plug body, the ring assembly is urged radially outward to seal against and block flow through the tube. An installation device draws the plug body within the ring assembly to set the plug assembly in the tube. The installation device is manually operated, and positions the ring assembly over the larger diameter portion of the plug body by exerting an axial force onto the frangible attachment while simultaneously holding the ring assembly in place. The ring assembly is held in place with a second axial force directed opposite to that of the one applied to the frangible attachment.

METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND APPARATUS FOR USE IN MAIN PIPES CONNECTED TO BRANCH CONDUIT

A pipe rehabilitation system and/or robot can be used inside a pipe to measure characteristics of branch conduits, install plugs into branch conduits before the pipe is lined with a liner, remove portions of plugs and liners after lining to restore fluid communication between the pipe and branch conduits, and/or install fittings into the branch conduits to connect the liner to the branch conduits. A probe can measure characteristics of a branch conduit. A tool can install plugs and/or fittings into the branch conduits. A linkage can connect a tool to a robotic tractor so that the connected elements can navigate through a main pipe. A visualization system can aid in aligning a robot with a branch conduit. Height-adjustable braces can support robotic tools in a pipe. A plug can include integrated locating features and/or movable parts that enable expanding the plug to seal with the branch conduit.

Plug for servicing active pipe
10612712 · 2020-04-07 · ·

A modular plug for installation into large diameter pipelines that provides a reliable and secure seal within the pipeline to be serviced thereby increasing the safety of the people working on the secured side of the plug. The plug is modular in construction and suited for easy installation within large pipelines. The plug is generally formed as a large circular plate formed from modular sections. Along the division lines the plug pieces include grooves and a gasket therein. Reinforcing jacks extend outwardly from the plug and exert pressure against the pipeline to retain the plug geometry and position. Also, around the periphery of the plug is shown an inflatable rubber seal.

Tool for working on the wall of a pipe and related method

An intervention method for acting on a wall of a fluid pipeline using a tool includes moving the tool inside the pipeline until a pipe segment of the tool is positioned facing a zone of the wall of the pipeline. The method also includes creating sealing upstream and downstream from the zone using first and second seals of the tool so as to seal off an outer portion of a segment of the pipeline around the zone. The method further includes acting on the zone of the wall. The sealing by the first and second seals occurs in two portions of the pipeline so as to define a sealing lock between the two portions of the pipeline. The tool further includes an adjustable propulsion system configured to make use of movement of the fluid in order to move the tool.
