Exhaust pipe repair system
10907526 · 2021-02-02 ·

The exhaust pipe repair system replaces the damaged portion of the pipe that has been removed from the pipe network that transports a gas. The exhaust pipe repair system creates a fluidic connection between a plurality of terminal ends in the pipe network formed where the pipe was removed. The exhaust pipe repair system includes a transport apparatus and a plurality of collars. The transport apparatus provides a replacement transport channel. The plurality of collars attach the exhaust pipe repair system to the plurality of terminal ends. The plurality of collars: 1) forms a gas impermeable seal that prevents gas from leaking out of the pipe network; and, 2) allows for the adjustment of exhaust pipe repair system to match the span between the plurality of terminal ends.

A pipe loosening device and methods are shown. In one example, the pipe loosening device enables a method wherein a pipe to be replaced is deformed but not burst, and a portion of a sidewall of the pipe is forced outward into the surrounding soil to compact a local region of the surrounding soil and loosen the existing pipe. The pipe may then pulled from the ground along an axis of the pipe.

A pipe liner re-flaring system and method for use with a water pipe containing a pipe liner. The pipe liner re-flaring system and method generally include a compression coupling comprising a pair of female compression fittings and a dual ended male compression fitting connected between the female compression fittings. The female compression fittings are adapted to fit over and secure the lined water pipe and a second pipe to be joined with open ends of the pipe liner and the pipe to be joined in direct contact within the male compression fitting. A pipe liner expansion tool and a pipe liner flaring tool are used to expand and re-flare the open end of the pipe liner so that the pipe liner is in contact with an inner wall of the compression coupling to prevent leakage and contact between fluids flowing in the pipes and the material of the pipes and compression coupling.

Pipe repair coupling tool and method of use

A pipe repair tool and method of use, for use with a coupler of the type having a first end and a second end, the first end having an outwardly projecting flange, such that the repair tool includes a cuff portion having a leading edge and a trailing edge, the cuff engaging a sleeve portion of the coupler with the leading edge of the cuff facing the flange of the first end of the coupler. The tool may include an outwardly projecting first leading ear having a pry surface near the leading edge of the cuff, the pry surface facing the trailing edge of the cuff such that force applied to the pry surface urges the leading edge of the tool toward the flange of the first end of the coupler.

A slip coupling tool having an interior surface sized for receiving a pipe. The coupling tool includes a semi-annular collar sized to engage an exterior surface of the pipe. The collar extends to a rearward end face sized and shaped for aligning with an end of the slip coupling when the collar receives the pipe and the inner surface of the collar engages an exterior surface of the pipe. The slip coupling tool includes a striking plate extending outward from the collar. The striking plate has an impact surface spaced from the collar for impacting the coupling tool to drive the slip coupling into position along the pipe. The slip coupling tool includes a handle extending outward from the collar for manipulating the tool into position while impacting the impact surface of the striking plate to drive the slip coupling into position along the pipe.

Repair welding method

A repair welding method according to at least one embodiment is for a member in which a first end and a second end of a parent material are connected by welding and includes: a step of removing a portion including at least a part of a first heat-affected zone of an existing welded portion of the member; and a step of performing repair welding after removing the portion. In a cross-section including the parent material and the existing welded portion, all intersection portions between the first heat-affected zone of the existing welded portion and a second heat-affected zone due to the repair welding have an intersection angle between the first heat-affected zone and the second heat-affected zone of 70 to 110.

A broken pipe, such as a PVC water pipe, is repaired by cutting out a section and replacing that section with a special repair assembly. The replacement section is of at least the same diameter and specification, such as ASTM Schedule 40 PVC, as the existing line of pipe. The ends of the repair pipe section and ends of the existing pipe are provided with increased diameters, and special one-way couplings are provided to slide over the two joints, one at each end of the repair section, to solvent weld the joints together. In a modified procedure a single joint is made with the special coupling.

We disclose an article of manufacture comprising a short section of PVC pipe with fittings. In its best embodiment, the pipe takes the form of a 1-2 section of PVC pipe fashioned into a U-bend, and the fittings take the form of an elbow joint glued onto each end of the U-bend. We further disclose a method of repairing cracked PVC piping using the article. The method involves cutting out a 4-6 section of piping, gluing the exposed ends of the broken piping as well as the elbow joints, squeezing the U-bend, positioning the squeezed article into the gap in broken piping, and releasing the U-bend to fit the elbow joints over the exposed ends of broken piping. The article has no vulnerable moving parts or O-rings, and it obviates the need to remove entire pipes.
